Question Slight burning smell at startup

    Hi all,

Over the last few days I've noticed that when I start up the D4 in the morning, I can smell a slight burning odour in the cabin for a short period - less than a minute. Smells a bit like burnt bakelite (for those who know what that is) and I can't really pinpoint it coming from any particular location.

Will see tomorrow if I can still smell it with the fan off to isolate it a bit.

It goes away after that and doesn't seem to happen on any subsequent starts during the day (for me about 2 more at the moment - one at lunchtime and one at the end of the day)

Everything very wet here in Sydney at the moment so a bit hard to open anything up to have a look around. Not even sure where to start looking to be honest.

Hoping someone has an idea or two...

Just recently back from Fraser Island with the car having had plenty of washing (exterior only) including the underbody, to rinse off the salty water on the way home in case that's relevant.

    Thanks,
    David

Thanks Jonesy. Strangely seems to have just gone away now. Perhaps whatever it was dried itself out.... hmm
