    GOE Rods

    Gday All,

Done a search but never really found the answer, so , Do you install the rods and leave them in all the time, or only when you are planning to go off-roading or on extended trips ?

    Hi Ean.
I belive you only use them when you need them, else the alighnment angles would be out.
I have a set of the originals from a member here, they have 2 settings(holes) so you can revert to standard height after use.The new ones have 3 settings, normal +50 +65(see his website)
On my first off-road outing I did scrape a couple of times at normal off-road height,if your buying a set I would get the 3 ways.Other than that there is LLAMS which also give you lowering if required.

    Gday Andrew,

I just acquired the 3 hole type, so wondered if you could put them in and leave them, They look straight forward to fit, so should be no issues.

While I was still under warranty, I carried the OEM rods in a little plastic bag. I made sure they were dirty and if I had a fault of any sort and the LR Assist people might visit I could reinstall them. Otherwise the idea is that you leave the GOE rods fitted and change their setting depending on your activity. I have the old style. The newest version of the rods look even easier to adjust.

As it turns out I never needed LR assist. Very happy with the rods especially for sand driving when you need both height and speed.

Anyone know how much of a height change would require a re-alignment?

I like the idea of using Nanocom or IiDTool to permanently set height 15 or even 20mm lower for normal driving, and then using the GOE rods when off road (and still have option to use the 3 way rods to still give +50mm above the original normal height i.e. -15 +65 = +50.

Of course above 160kph the car will automatically go into the lowered setting for improved high speed handling, but I suspect I won't get to use this much.

The change in camber might be more of an issue. If you've ever jacked up the vehicle you will notice how the wheel camber changes with suspension height change. Just check out the change in camber changing from Acces to Normal to Off-road.
