The LR rims only fit the rear, not the front. The discussion was in regards to purchasing only 4 Compomotive/GOE rims and using 2 LR 18" rims as spares.

You could always sell the F6, keep the V8 D3 as the weekend warrior, and pick up a decent Td5 D2a as your daily run about whilst studying. You will end up with more cash in your pocket that way, and have a cool LR collection!

I know but I doubt I will ever earn as much as I do now and by leasing the D4 now I will pay for it in seperation pay etc and save a lot of tax. I am studying full time on leave at the moment and will study externally for the next 2 years depending on where I am posted next. I will then have about 18 months of being poor before I start a new career. I would like an economical reliable car under warranty that can go anywhere and tow anything. I figure if I get a D4 I will have trouble free motoring for the next 10 years. I love the V 8. The fuel economy around town is scary.

A 3.0l is very economical, far better than the 2.7l D4.

Only with the 8-speed gbox I suspect as my 6-speed 3.0 never seems to get close to 2.7s.

With my 6 speed 3.0 my fuel consumption since new has been an average of 11.1 litres/ 100 km.
This is OK with me as I do tend to use the power occasionally and short runs.

Much better than my D4. Last 8600kms (that trip b max is 10k), puter on car shows 11.4, but actual is 13.4....its consistently 2 lp 100 out (this is via my log book app).

Bit heavy though with all the gear.

11.6L/100K TO 12L/100K for my 2.7l, on the freeway 10.3l/100k is the best I have ever gotten, 14.6l to 15.8l/100k towing, 16s if it's hilly, worst towing figures was 26l/100k offroad cruising around the Flinders PAR roads.

My D2 was setup almost indentical, 10l/100k to and from work and around town, anywhere from 11.3l/100k(best we got towing) to 13l to 14l/100k, worst towing figures were 17.6l/100k crossing the Simpson, the odd thing about the D2, the economy never improved on the freeway, still got around the 10l/100k.

I must say since getting the mufflers fixed on the D4, power has improved, economy, slightly but only when towing, around town is about the same.

With the D4, when we first got it, economy was 12l to 13.5l around town, even before the accessories went on, after fitting the accessories, the solo fuel economy didn't change, but the towing figuers sure did, 16l to 18.5l/100k, even more in hilly country, a lot of too and frowing with the dealer and LRA got us nowhere, it wasn't until a trip to Sth Australia, we started getting faults causing the car to go into limp mode, a dealer in Port Lincoln found the issue and updated the gearbox software, the economy improved to 14l to 15l/100ks and around town went to 11l to 12l/100k.

What gets me is Jonesy63 has always gotten 9s and 10s and even an 8l/100k, only difference is about 4mths in build date and he has the Siemans ECU and we have the Bosch ECU same as the 3.0l D4.
