    Interchangeable bits.

I am currently considering trading my F6 on a D4. I bought a D3 V8 last December with all the gear. I will be a fulltime student in the near future and don't want the fuel bills and the F6 has to go. The bits I want to swap.

    - 100litre fuel tank
    - Kaymar duel wheel carrier
    - Alpine Nav and Reverse Camera.
    - Safaris Snorkel
    - Arb Bullbar and Warn winch.
    - 18 Inch wheels.

I intend to strip the the D3 and sell it without all this stuff. I figure I wouldn't lose as much as if I was replacing it all with new.

I know the Bullbar doesn't fit the latest D4 but what models will it fit.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Ok I now know the Alpine Unit has no where to go on the new D4 but will the rear wheel carrier fit and long range tank.

    - Kaymar duel wheel carrier ** Should fit no issues.
    - Alpine Nav and Reverse Camera ** Find Std unit for yours & Sell separately.
    - Safaris Snorkel ** Leave on, it will leave holes in guard otherwise.
    - Arb Bullbar and Warn winch ** Find Std bar for yours & Sell separately-Keep winch for later use if you decide you want a bulbar.
    - 18 Inch wheels ** Wont fit the 3.0Ltr, But will fit a 2.7Ltr if you choose this option.

According to rufusking, the RRC500242 8Jx18 D3 rim, will fit a MY12 D4 with the 3.0 diesel engine, which means they will fit all D4, 2.7l, but the 3.0l, it's THE REAR ONLY, the front will require 18" GOE Compomotive rims or factory 19" rims, check the part number of your 18" rims first, I would do a test fit first just to be sure, if you get a newer model than MY12.

    See thread here
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...l-fitment.html

The Kaymar rear bar and carriers will fit, I know this because my Kaymar bar has D3 written on it on the inside of the bar.

The D3 bullbar is different to the D4, according to ARB, I would ring them just to make sure, I don't think you would have trouble selling it.

Auxillary fuel tanks for the D3/D4 are the same, so if it fits your D3, it will fit the D4, but check with whoever you got the tank from, to make sure it fits the later MY14 on models, there was a change to these new models.

    Not quite correct...

There was an update in the chassis / floor during the D3 model life and the tanks had to be changed to accommodate..

Earlier D3 tanks will hang substantially lower than the latest versions, which have been made universal (D3/D4) with a 2-4l loss of capacity.

Just need to check the manufacturing date and see which unit you have..

Only Brown Davis list a difference, but the tanks have the same Part No LDI3A1 for both models D3 2005 TO 2009/D4 2009 ON

LRA list the D3 2005 to 2008 Diesel only, but as above same Part No and when you go in to look, it states 2005 ON

Longranger list their tank as DIII & IIII with the same Part No

All have the same capacity for the D3 and D4.

    Baz you are also Correct

They modified the design of each to make them universal around 2008 if my mind serves correctly.

Kept the same part, down rated the capacity by a few litres to accommodate the design change...

The difference is in the wheel well and the early tanks will not fit up into later versions making them hang down lower...

I will crawl underneath this afternoon and try and ascertain what brand it is. I don't know what year it has been fitted. What is the major problem using a petrol tank for diesel. Obviously it will get thoroughly rinsed first.

Clean it and make sure all the rust and grit is gone, you'll need to change the filler hoses, other than that I can't see an issue, the transfer pump could be different though, diesel can be used in any container really, as far as I know.
