    thanks

I think this is a fantastic thread, so thanks for starting it Rich. It's been an excellent learning experience. I haven't had an opportunity yet to drive this sort of terrain and won't get to that often, so picking up tips from behind the computer screen is great.

Hopefully this will inspire others with video. Pictures are worth a thousand words but the feedback has been spot on. Hopefully I'll get to post something like that one day for constructive criticism.

    Cheers,
    Scott

    Thanks everyone and thanks Scott,

Ok this is the other side of that rock face in first video.
Note tyres are LT and 10ply and at 18/20PSI.
Looking at the grip level I now wish I'd dropped to 15/17PSI.
While these are Mud Terrain tyres which work brilliantly in mud I'm thinking the compound is not suited to slippery rock unfortunately.
Where I stopped I switched off DSC and got up.
Traction control looks to be working correctly.

As others have said, back off and let the TC work. Looks fun.

It's interesting about turning the DSC off, I've never done this, and didn't do it when we did Mt Airley, you looked to have done that fairly easily Rich, something I'll keep in mind.

I've gone from a D1 with a rear auto locker to a Defender with TC and its been a learning curve for me. Out at Emu Creek 4WD Park near Tabulum earlier this month I found I had to deliberately ease off when a wheel spun and let the TC work. A light foot was the go. I would stop, ease off, the TC would cause a wheel to grip and it would ease forward.
Frankly, the TC worked much better than I had expected.
Can't comment on later Discoverys though.
