Kaymar rear wheel carrier wing extensions for 3rd party mud flaps

    Hi All,

If possible could someone share some photos they may have of the Kaymar bracket and mud flap fitting when using non factory rear mud flaps. The original LR plastics are useless now, but when removed leaves a huge void.

I am looking at how they fit and finish off with a bigger and wider mud flat to stop stones from continuously being sprayed out the back and upwards and hitting the camper and any stray rock being deflected from the stone stomper.

    PM is fine.

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards

My LR D4 mudflaps disintegrated on my first trip from Perth to Cape York via Great Central Road and Plenty Hwy etc. As you say it leaves a big hole so I ended up getting Chinese knock offs just to keep it looking good with the Kaymar bar. The Chinese ones have now survived a heap more rough roads than the LR ones with no damage whatsoever and were an easy fit, as good as the originals.

As you say, the only problem is that stones get thrown out the sides, especially with 285 tyres like I have. On my KK they have peppered the 100 series hub covers on the wheels and the electric stairs and also the wood box to a lesser extent. I am going to get extra stone protection for the KK but not change the mudflaps. Even with a Stone Stomper the stones go past it and peppered my camper trailer.

The other issue is that the plastic lower body protection and the Kaymar bar itself are also stone blasted by stones from the front and rear wheels, but I just live with that.

Can't help with your real question, however. Sorry.

I made my own, the kaymar ones are over $400, so decided against them, these are a prototype, not quite finished, but have been on the car for about a month now and have been good, they were quite easy to make, just bent them in a vice, riveted a bracket to them and bolted them on, getting the angle right took the longest, half a day and then painted then, there is a factory attach point, you can see the screw underneath, I just fitted them then marked where the hole should go and drilled a hole to suit.

There is a small fabricating shop in our town, he is quite good and has reasonable prices, I will be speaking to him to see if he can do them in steel and make them look a bit better.

    Here's my ones.

    Hi All,

Thanks for the photos and feedback.

Ordered from Kaymar direct, complete kit including mud flaps $327. It appears there is some variation in price??

Anyway, should get the kit soonish, will post the content and fitting arrangement.

It will be interesting to see the mud flap size/length. Have had huge issues with LR factory flaps, they stop nothing as they are way to high and very shabby.

Just received the retrofit kit from Kaymar.

Part No. K6027-kit at $270 inc GST, consisting of:-

    2 x filler brackets, l and R
    2 x 280x280 rubber flaps
2 x 280 mm bar to hold mud flap to bracket
    1 x lot of assorted bolts/nuts/washers

The lot delivered to suburb in Melb is $286.50 delivered direct from Kaymar. I must say, the service via phone and delivery is excellent.

The mud flaps are just not long enough, ideally they need to be around 350mm long to ensure to stops the lot.

Will look at longer mud flaps, Autobarn has a 280x350 or alternative is make your own.

Some pictures to follow over the weekend after painting to nearly match vehicle colour.

    Regards
