    Turbo Lag

    G'day all
I have just fitted new silicon intercooler hoses to my 2.7 D3 and now have massive turbo lag, to the point where it is not driveable in any sort of traffic. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
    Cheers

Was an electrical connector or a vacuum tube left disconnected?

No, I don't believe so. Nothing extraneous was disconnected during the job. I have just inspected it again and can find nothing amiss. (Unless there is something hidden well out of sight).

There must be something not done up or dislodged as Greame mentioned.
New hoses wont perform worse than old ones.
Give it a thrash with the windows down, see if a hoseclamp has let go.Whislting noise will confirm.
Standard hose clamps dont hold onto silicone hose too well.
    GOOD LUCK

I agree with Andrew. I have found you really need to tighten the hell out of the bottom clamp to get it to seal. I've had to retighten mine twice since installation. Having said that I didn't really notice an issue with lag. It was oil leaking after sustained work on boost, like towing or beach work that I noticed. Though I did notice better economy coming back from Kalgoorlie after the last tighten whilst there a few weeks ago.

    Thanks fellas.
I'll pull the heat shields off again (sigh) and check the clamp tightness - then give it a belt around the ears.
I couldn't hear any strange noises with the engine running and my head under the mudguard, but its gotta be something (probably small and stupid that I've missed). Not blowing any smoke either.

You wont get much boost at all, even at full revs, with the vehicle stationary. You need load on the engine to produce boost

    Goodluck

Well, went over the 3 hoses and did find a clamp not as tight as it could be. They are all now as tight as I can get them with a flat blade screwdriver. I also checked the 3 large electrical plugs inside the mudguard as somewhere on this forum, I read that they can give trouble, but they seemed O K. Took the vehicle for a run with the windows down and all the relevant covers still off (thanks Tombie) and no strange noises. Lag is still as bad - however, when I returned, I could hear a low pitched moaning noise (not me) from the turbo side if the engine and this may be an air leak of some kind.
So, I'm thinking of removing the short "interesting" hose on the turbo and the "middle" hose and having a look around in there again.
