I organised it through a broker and LR had nothing to do with it. I got a leak on the Oil Pump bearing (I think?) which leaked oil all over the timing belts and several suspension parts. I'm certain LR told me the damage including parts and labour exceeded $3500. Therefore my warranty paid for itself in the first hit.

It's not really a warranty anyway. It's an insurance policy where Allianz agree to pay for the repair if it's deemed as a covered item.

I went through the policy with a fine tooth comb anticipating issues. The policy states nothing about whether LR approve it or otherwise, it's not their decision to make. The only things that weren't warranted are identical to what wouldn't be covered in a factory warranty, which is pretty much wear and tear parts. However, even they are covered if damaged due to the failure of a warranted part. Which was the case in my incident with the belts and suspension parts.

Maybe the Ts & Cs are different if you purchased through LR but they had no say whatsoever in my policy. I don't see why they would anyway .... as I said it's an insurance policy and it's payed work, with the money coming from a third party, not LR. Makes no sense at all.

    Cheers.
Yes the Allianz extended warranty through LR is different to the Allianz extended warranty that is basically an insurance policy(if that makes sense) ours was a factory extended warranty through Allianz, which was worth dick, as LRA had the last word.

Anyway it was good for the dealer to come to the party, so a good outcome for lpj, proves that not all dealers are bad.

I had an Allianz extended warranty on my 2007 D3 and absolutely no complaints - all claims were handled easily by the local dealer and it paid for itself several times over (multiple fuel tank replacements, air compressor replacements, lower control arms etc).

I'm on the verge of buying a 2012 D4, and weighing up whether I get an extended warranty for it. Where are people buying Allianz warranties from those days ? What sort of dollars ?

I bought mine from the dealer. You'd want to hurry because it still has to have factory warranty left I believe.
