    So has anyone got this to work with the remote key?
    2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone
    2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

    Just tested this on my MY12 D4 HSE. All works as it says in the manual (page 87/88).
    No starter button pressed just hazard lights on.
    Close all doors etc but not locked.
    Press and hold the button with the icon of a light.
    While holding that button in press and hold the unlock button to raise the vehicle.
    Instead of the unlock button if you press and hold the tailgate button the vehicle will lower, all the time holding in the button with the light icon.
    Once the air tank is depleted the vehicle will no longer raise but will lower.

    Thanks for the party trick instructions - just went down to the garage,
    It works a treat, I have Treg Hitch, and this little trick will make single person camper hook up so much easier! ( it seems to click and come down / up in small inclements, very controllable adjustments )

    My understanding with the D3 is you could use it for lights or lower /raise. I have made it turn the lights on. I am scared to play with fob now as last time in locked me out. I couldn't get into the car overnight.

    SO,with the D4 with the reversing camera one should be able to use the fob buttons inside the vehicle???
    The camera is very good,I park within 10mm of items in the shed without touching.One can see the hitch clearly so should with practice be able to hook up whilst in the vehicle.Anybody done it????

    My camera does not centre the toe hitch ... so if I come back, I have to get out, and I see that the toe bar is in fact to the side of the trailer. So I have to remember that the video has to have the toe bar just to the side ... one has to remember which side.

    If the camera was directly above, this should not happen if your reverse straight back.

    Anyhow - my biggest problem is that when I stop the vehicle, I get out, and check everything - and your suggestion would mean I could not do that sensible behaviour!!

    Then typically, I like to move a touch forward or backward - and my gripe is that the hand brake button does not arrest the car where I stop it.

    Then I used to use the key hazard trick, and I shut the rear door while looking, and one can open it to stop the vehicle raising. But now I just idle and hit the button to raid the car, and then shut the door when I am ready. Open the door and it will stop.

    One thing I have noticed too - when the car raises or lowers, the tow bar shifts forwards ... now, that does not make sense ... but it does do that. I have noticed if you change the height, one axle moves before the other ... this might be why the tow bar shifts laterally i.e. forward or backward.

    I have not properly analysed whether when the other end moves whether the vehicle comes back ... I do not think it does. I have watched the rear wheels, and they seem to move forward/backward a touch when you change heights.

    I always hitch (Tregg) using the reversing camera. I have a D4 HSE with a surround vision pack and "hitch assist". My brother's D4 TD V6 with the same cameras also has hitch assist.

    With reverse engaged, touch the screen and then select hitch assist. A graphic projects the path of the hitch predicted by the steering wheel angle. The camera zooms in on the hitch as you get close. Easy-peasy.

    I don't have the surround vision. But I think all with the rear camera has to hitch assist, with the graphical line and the zoom in on the camera. And with an auto coupling McHitch, which has a funnel arrangement and the coupling slips in via the direction of the vehicle (rather than mine which slips in up and down) one could reverse all the way in from the driver's seat.

    Incidentally in the UK, the tow pack provides a graphical representation of your van ... you measure the van, and its axle width too, and the distance from the axle(s) to your rear axle, and input all the dimensions, pick a graphic shape that resembles your van, and you get a whole picture of your van when reversing, But according to retail sales, they said that was not available in Australia.

    IMO its probably because of our legal restrictions - people would sue Land Rover whenever they reversed into something if the system was made available here.

    I need the height adjustment to couple my van ... it takes very little time to make the connection, thanks to the air suspension, and the camera helps. Attaching everything else takes up 80% of the time.

    Some people also forget to use low range.

    Is the " Hitch Assist " only available with the " Surround Camera " option?

    I have a 2013 HSE with the reversing camera, but no Surround Cameras.
    Just wondering if I have it or not?

    Nice when you find something you didn't know you had with these D4"s,

    Your HSE would have it; it comes with the reversing camera.

    When you engage reverse, do you get any reversing assistance in the camera? i.e. guidelines that move with the steering wheel? Or any guidelines at all? Or zoned parking distance colours (another reversing mode)?

    When I picked up my vehicle the reversing assist wasn't there ... my reversing screen just showed the view out of its lens. Yet my test drive had shown it working ...

    I later had to tell the vehicles system to give me parking assistance. That's what you have to do.

    And one time, it disappeared - I had to re-engage it. Another time, it went away too, and when I engaged it, it did not come back. The next morning, it was working again!!

    That has been the only "bug" in my Disco so far ... with my 150 series Kakadu Land Cruiser, it would regularly erase all my phone contacts, and remove all the important phone tags, and all the voice links I had established. To set all that up again would take half an hour, but by the fourth time it happened, I could do it in 15 minutes. So ... have the reverse parking disappear two times seems small cheese to me ... the bluetooth and phone systems on my D4 are quite excellent.

    My vehicle is evidently the final revision for the D4, so it may have different software. But I think yours would be the same as mine.

    There are various ways to get to the reversing options ... the easiest is to engage reverse, and look for an icon on the screen. Then press the icon, and you will be brought into the three reversing options. Mine has a U turn arrow in a small box on the top left of the screen. Push that virtual button, and you will be taken to the three reversing options. The one with the trailer mode has a trailer icon on its box ... push that, and you'll be in trailer mode.


    Another way to get to the reversing modes, is via the special options menu. First get to Home menu, which should be the left top button to the right of the Audio on off button (which is inside the temperature rotation rubber dial). To the left of the Nav button as your HSE comes with Nav. On the screen, there is an Extra features virtual button, push that, and you'll see the 4x4 icon screen, and the cameras virtual large "button". Push the cameras "button" and then it will take you to another options screen, on mine there is a camera graphic virtual button, and underneath a Settings button. Push the virtual "Settings" button, and you'll see the three options available for your reversing screen. Pick the one with the trailer for reverse approaching to a trailer!!

    On my vehicle, if you push the camera graphic virtual button icon on the previous screen described above, the rear camera will then stay on while you drive forwards. Unfortunately, it does not crop in when I want it too ... one cannot see the faces of drivers behind you ... Land Rover need to smarten up and give me an option there!!!

    Way off topic: but I believe the small push buttons on the dash of the D4, are from BMW. Since BMW owned LR before Ford took the company, I think staff who knew BMWs designed those dash systems. My wife had a 325, and its button arrangement looked poor when I drove the 3 series ... an E-46 generation. IMO a pretty car, and a good one too ... despite being South African made ... anyhow, when you got used to the buttons, it was an excellent ergonomic environment. I also thought BMW improved their interior quality a lot after they became involved in Rolls Royce ... anyhow, the Buttons in the D4 are just the same in feel and design as the earlier E-46 three series, and IMO they worked very well indeed. The mouse wand arrangements currently in fashion with the Germans and now Toyota and Lexus are grossly inferior to touch screens IMO. I hope LR don't cave in and put in a cheaper stupid mouse wand and remove the touch screen ... the Disco's central screen maybe small, but it works great and I don't think a bigger one would add much functionality.
