Things like that happen so fast.
I was doing some work in Nyngan a few days ago, loading appx 1T core trays into a dual axle trailer and 1T core trays into the back of a V8 land cruiser Ute.
Traveling along a fence line on the work site after a light shower, as the fence line ended there was a very mild curve to avoid a drilling site. Running down through the gears, so as to avoid using the brakes in the wet, and the second I turned the wheel the entire rig spun out a full 4 turns!
Thankfully the only damage was the wheel of the jockey wheel.
Glad to see your damage wasn't too extensive and that you're okay!

Glad no one was hurt,as others have said, the issue getting everything sorted is such a PITA.

A bit off topic, but this may be of interest. We recently had one of our vans hit while it was parked, other vehicle at fault. No hire vehicle on our policy. The smash repair shop, where the van went for repair, put us onto a company that will provide a hire vehicle and they take the risk of getting paid by who was at fault.
The company was very helpful, and the hire vehicle cost us nothing.

    Hi Lotz-A-Landies,
Like you, I have unsatisfactory service from NRMA. I had a cracked windscreen in my driveway, probably due to a neighbour's lawn mower (as I reverse into my drive). NRMA gave me such a run-around (as I insisted on either a LR or OEM unit), that I eventually paid for it myself.

They've lost my trust since they broke away from the real NRMA. I have since changed my compulsory insurance to another maker.

Now my comprehensive insurance is due and I am unsure of my options, as I have a lifetime 25% no claim bonus (yes, I am that old).

    Best Wishes,
    Peter

My car is insured with NRMA his with Budget Direct, I have NRMA traveler care to cover the trailer.

Neither his nor my Insurance would tow the trailer because it wasn't independently insured and the Traveler car wouldn't recover the trailer because it was damaged in accident. The towees would only accept cash.

IMHO the insurance companies and motoring association would have been happy to leave me there in the rain with a trailer damaged by someone else.

    Hi Learner.

I think you will find that other insurers will transfer the no claim bonus if you change to them. I just renewed mine with NRMA - wish I had seen this first. I might have looked a bit harder at a new company.

Pretty sure that's illegal, but if that was the case, I would have told them to go jump and towed the trailer home, after removing the damaged wheel, towie would have got nothing

Glad you're ok and lucky no one else was about. What dash cam do you use? I've been thinking about one for a while for just such an incident. I back my own driving but I'm often concerned about getting into a my word against theirs standoff if I ever got hit!

I seriously considered that, but rain was intermittent and I only had the standard Disco tools in the car.

With the angles of the axles, it would have torn the tread off one side of the LHS tyres. The Police also advised against towing the trailer.

The A frame is bent, the tow coupling is bent and won't operate the brakes, both axles are bent.

    Update:
Went to my long term Range Rover specialist smash repairer A&J Corben, they refuse all work from NRMA. (Blair advised TR Flanagan but they are not an NRMA partner repairer) Has anyone had any experience with Monza Smash in Carrington Rd Marrickville?
