Words fail me.
I know that ramp, there is more than enough room if he really wanted to get past, without having to tramp it in a ute in the wet.
Yesterday wasn't a good day. I moved a non-drivable non-steerable Defer 110 from KLR to Glenorie, as luck would have it, it was pouring with rain as I tirfored the 110 onto the trailer. The weather cleared but unloading the 110 it was raining again.
On returning the car trailer to its owner I was driving up the Richmond Rd M7 on ramp, the Falcon Boss ute next to me decided to tramp it, but instead of racing through the toll point, he lost it and spun out, taking the trailer behind my D4 with it. I then did a jack-knifed five forty degree spin, the trailer running up the concrete wall and I ended up facing the wrong direction. Following was a RRS who was very helpful as both a witness and helping with the traffic.
Unfortunately my D4 suffered damage to the rear quarter panel, bumper and wheel arch flare from the trailer. I was able to drive home the Falcon and trailer on the other hand.
The falcon on the other hand.

The ramp had a lot of oil on it but it was unclear of when the oil got there, the light rain made it worse.
I believe the cause of the incident was ego.The driver of the ute was in the LH lane and missed the change to green and I had the inside running as I started up the ramp accelerating in preparation of subsequent merging speed with the motorway.
He then found himself next to the trailer and his lane was going to end and I assume wanted get in front. How could his boss be beaten by a 4WD and trailer!

Bugger, at least no one was hurt.
I also know that ramp well, used it many times over three or so weeks a couple of months back, hell I used it two Saturdays ago.
As you said ego, lessons can be hard sometimes, shame you were in that place to reinforce it.
I'm guessing he had his TC turned off ?
Not good at all. I hope the damage to the D4 is minimal.

What an idiot, glad your ok.
Just viewed my dash cam and it was only a one eighty degree spin. Adrenaline has a lot to answer for.

Easy to do with a high powered vehicle in the wet. Plant the back, auto shifts down breaks traction on one side and the back overtakes the front. Yes he didn't need to tramp it but he misread the conditions it happens. Sorry you day was messed up, that's often the biggest pain is the time you have to invest to sort everything out and insurance doesn't compensate you for that. Glad everyone was ok.
Insurance Grrrrrr
My car is insured with NRMA his with Budget Direct, I have NRMA traveler care to cover the trailer.
Neither his nor my Insurance would tow the trailer because it wasn't independently insured and the Traveler car wouldn't recover the trailer because it was damaged in accident. The towees would only accept cash.
IMHO the insurance companies and motoring association would have been happy to leave me there in the rain with a trailer damaged by someone else.
