Pat where did you get your sheepskin from?
Such a shame to cover good leather with fluff, that's what we get for choosing 1st world poverty I guess!

Even though our D4 has the really soft top of the line leather we fitted sheepskins because the light coloured leather marks so easily with jeans. Personally I do not like the sheepskins and if I bought new I would only ever have the black leather.

Ah see I must be spoilt by ze Germans as I've had many a VW and their tech is awesome (until it breaks down of course).

I'm happy enough with the sound I was more thinking I'd have to change the head unit to get a better in dash GPS, else I will just continue with what I do currently and sit my iPhone over the screen....just a bit embarrassing when in non LR company to admit what's within that screen is quite useless!

I don't think it's worth the effort or money trying to retrofit. You still don't get full functionality.

Whilst my TomTom display wise is heaps better and 'supposedly' updates info all the time, it is slower to use and less integrated than my MY10 OEM GPS was.

I'd prefer an integrated system again and managed fine with the outdated old one .... but it would be better if it was easier and cheaper to update.

I've heard rumours that the Euro marques are going to go down the open source route like Holden have. I certainly hope so. Having Google maps on my screen, especially if it is integrated to voice, would be excellent.

Yeah you see it on the loaner cars .... only a few hundred clicks on the clock and the seats are already marked. Black all the way.

We've experienced a few marks on the light leather but nothing too bad really, new jeans being the most noticeable.
Got them all out easily with the leather cleaning wipes that you can get at Supercheap etc.
I'm happy to do a bit of extra cleaning because we really like the lighter/brighter interior, having always previously had dark interiors.

We keep a pack in one of the car doors.

I rate the Oakwood leather care kit. Comes with cleaning fluid, applicator, conditioner and sometimes a packet of the wipes you have mentioned. The conditioner leaves the car looking like you've had Spartan set members from the movie 300 in your car, but once wiped down the car looks brand new.

I've tried big brand creams but you have to be very careful not to leave residue in any seams, stitching, nooks and crannies, etc as it cakes dry. You don't have that issue with the Oakwood conditioner, as it's a gel .... like dubbin and just soaks in.

I thought I'd have this problem too, but in nearly 3 years, haven't noticed any problem from jeans (just a few minor marks that wipe off easily). I really like the lighter colour, as the seats are cooler in summer, and it just brightens up the interior.

LR have been doing for a little while. Its called "In Control Apps", a $600 option I think:

Picked up my new baby last Friday and did 600kms over the weekend. Was very interested in this thread being new to LR. Now mine is brand new, so obviously the seats are current and my backside is the first one it has met, and it is the latest sat nav,

    SEATS:
Yeh they are firm, but they are comfortable. I had 3 passengers and I asked the guys in the back what they thought. They said that the seats were comfortable. I did notice after hours in the saddle that I started to get a bit saddle sore, so I know where you are coming from with regards to that.

    Sat Nav:
Mine was pretty responsive, but the interface isn't awesome. (I'm a software engineer). There's no real process flow, so there is a lot of unnecessary screen changes and clicking. My Pajero is better from an address entry workflow point of view, but this is WAY more flexible. As for speed, it doesn't lag very long at all to be honest. You need to keep an eye on the number of returned selections and when it gets below 10, just hit the list button. All in all I don't mind the sat nav, but I will need to spend more time getting used to it. Might be the same for you.

Hope this contribution helps the conversation.

    Cheers,

    Smocky. (Smiling LR owner)
