Just had a look at the video on the link above and they are 995mm deep and 955mm wide. That would fit inside my D1 with the seats folded down so would easily fit in a D4.
They are around $1500 from Bunnings. Have 2 drawers and a fridge slide. Anyone bought them or investigated if they fit in a D3/4?

I like that the top is a draw in itself as shown in the pic with the fridge. Thats a great idea.

I thought the "length" would be front (seat back) to back (tailgate) and width would be side to side ? The video shows other war around - misprint I assume???

Am I reading this correctly, the unit itself weighs 75kg? If so that's very heavy.

An equivalent Drifta unit would cost about $1850 and that includes a table with folding legs. And it weighs a lot less, is a better fit to the space (custom size) plus has an access hole for the spare wheel winder.

I'm just about to start making my own drawers as per Drifta style with fridge slide and table built in.(can't afford the $2000+) I'll be using the plans from this forum for the base then making up the rest as I go. Daunting but looking forward to it. I will take some photo's along the way to share!
Scott.
One of the best tips I've heard is to use CAD (Cardboard Aided Design). Just make a template out of a fridge box, or if you're feeling fancy some artists cardboard. Then trace it onto your timber/steel. You can get some complex shapes out of it, and you can see if it will fit without stuffing up your expensive timber or steel sheet!
Let me know how you go as I want to do the same soon too.

Yes weight was one thing I was worried about.
Good point re drifta being lighter and better fitting fo not much more, the thing I liked about this one though is that in theory it would be easy to get in and out (although at 75kg not a doddle) so that if I want to convert back to a 7 seater which I do ocassionally it can be done without a big drama.
But I do already push the weight limits from time time so I am thinking it is really just too heavy.
Andrew, the Drifta and quite a few others including home-made ones use turnbuckles down to the factory tie-down points. This makes them all easy to remove/install just by sliding in/out over tailgate.
The lifting on to tailgate is a two-person job with mine due to it being bigger to take a fridge inside the unit. But a smaller unit could be most likely one-person. Mine comes out after every trip so had to be easy.
Cheers,
