    Hi Nick22,
Not sure where you are up to on your quest. Test drives cost nothing so why not sample what is available and for what price. We can tell you anything you want to hear, you have to sort out what is important to you:- Low klms, colour, service history, reliability, bushability, availability of spares and expertise, accessories both standard and optional, economy etc etc.

I now make a list of what is important to me, you being a Toyota owner and a family man obviously reliability is quite high on your list, do you believe that a Land Rover will suit your reliability requirements on what you have heard and read? Unfortunately in that regard you only have what is written and said, for you at this time no personal experience.

I did like you at one point did own a Toyota, and yes it never let me down, however for me all the other differences that separate the brands is the reason I now own (a few) Land Rovers.

Good luck on your quest, in the end it is your choice and your decision.

    Cheers Marty.

Get a full history and you should be happy. I know of a nice 2010 SE for sale in Melb, has rear air, diff lock etc, nice tuck and would be a lot sweeter drive than a Prado. My Brother just sold his prado, it followed a D3 V8 and now he is in a RRS TDV8 and really missed driving the landrovers. Prado cost a bomb to service as per log book, he does a lot of kms.

There isn't any tangible difference between an HSE and SE with regards to taking them off road or having dogs in them. The HSE just has a few extra gadgets. They both have full leather and carpet from firewall to tailgate. The leather and carpet wears well though and cleans well also.

SE runs the same engine spec as the HSE (excluding V8). You also often find SEs that have been optioned up, lessening the difference.

So, I'd follow the advice and aim for HSE but don't get dismayed if you have to look for an SE, as there may not be a lot in it.

Current Discos are every bit as reliable as any other top brand. Flawless? .... no .... but no manufacturer is.
