    scan tool data

Have been trying to find a instrument cluster that suits a discovery 4 interior that can show data such as transmission temp, oil temp, maybe even turbo temps live while driving down the road. Is this availible?

Pretty sure the Nanocom Evolution can show all that.

If you want a cheap option, one of the bluetooth (android) or wifi (apple) ELM327 devices connected to a mobile phone or tablet can provide a range of 'dash' displays using a third party app.

Torque has a good name, but I quite like the standard dash display from Dash Command. Both apps allow you to create custom displays showing the guages you want. I do, however, find this leads to a cluttered display that I can't read at a glance.

If you are using a tablet as a navigation or entertainment device you can use that to display, rather than a phone, giving a bit more real estate.

Both apps allow you to read, and clear, fault codes but I haven't investigated whether its a complete range or just the generic PIDs that are interrogated.

Here is a screenshot from the Gap iiD Tool BT taken from my iPhone with values as an example:

    Coolant Temp
    Intake Air Temp
    Transmission Temp
    Engine Oil Level

There is plenty of other data available, particularly related to air flow in regards to the engine and various transmission clutch figures, among other things. But these are probably more relevant for troubleshooting and diagnostics rather than to have on display while driving.

Regarding live values, the only one I'd like to find is Engine Oil Temp. You'd think it would be directly available but I have not found it.

Hi Scott, Having a look at your screen shot I would say you would be looking at the engine oil temp as you are in that particular module. I had a simulated play on their web site and I couldnt find transmission temp anywhere. May have to email them to see if it displays the transmission temp as I am interested in purchasing one
    Cheers

I know it looks that way but that's only because the engine module was the last one I was in for value selection before displaying the values and then taking the screenshot.
The oil temp you see in my post is definitely transmission. It is the first one in the trans ECU value list.
And in double-checking I still can't see any engine oil temp, only coolant and EGR temps.
I think I'll email them regarding engine oil temp.

    Cheers,

UPDATE: I now have Engine Sump Temperature on the iiD Tool. The other oil shown below is transmission.

This is the result of a firmware update from Gap. Apparently Australia is a small part of their market and recent model D4's an even smaller proportion. So no one had alerted them to a lack of live values.

Gap has been excellent to deal with. It seems their standard or typical build is for diesel with DPF in UK/EU and petrol in America. So a non-DPF diesel from recent years is uncommon to them. As I understand it, they are working towards full access to all possible live values as a future update.

So for anyone who uses Live Values regularly, I would appreciate advice on what values you access/use. I'd like to check mine and advise Gap of any other "missing" values that are of particular use.

Now if that intake air temp was replaced with Exhaust Gas temperature, it would be the ideal set up.

There is 6 x EGT sensors in the Live Values list, three per bank.
However, only Sensor 1 picks up a reading on each bank, at least with my tool.
The other day when idling I noted temperatures of 120 and 130 degrees IIRC but haven't had them displayed while driving.
