You guys got any pics or links of yours? I wouldnt have thpught they would cover the crack as it affects airbag deployment?

Ill be getting a black one. Not keen on spending heaps (there's other mods i want to buy!), but also dont want to buy crap.
I've bought this brand for my D3 and now D4:

I also suggest you look at the charcoal one rather than black - it seems to heat up less.

They don't have charcoal listed for a D3/4 Rob, do they call it by a different name?

Is that the colour you have in your D4? My memory of yours was it was black, when I was in your D4 that was when I noticed that mine reflected on the inside of screen and yours didn't.
    Cheers,
    Terry

    Hi Terry,
I just looked up their eBay sales listing and they've renamed the colour... it is now called "coal"!. They must have removed some of the "char" from it!

For those that have dash cracks,do you have genuine windscreens fitted?????
Would be interesting to know as the factory one has a very good UV filter.
Another good reason for the insurance company to fit genuine
I burnt my leg on the black leather seats for the first time last weekend. It was because the drivers window was left open. The UV protection in the glass is very good.Cant sit in the Territory black leather seats if its been in the sun.
Also have you used UV products like Armour All to protect your dash????

Mine definitely has the pilkington glass. I have the same (non) issue with the leather - its warm but never burning hot after sitting in the sun - the aircon cools it down in about 5mins too!

Just wondering if non genuine glass or lack of aftermarket protectants are causing the cracks.

Same problem here with the dash cracking around the airbag outline. Seems it's a common problem. There's some good info here:

Have a look at shevron dashmats. Have had one in my last D3 and one in my current D3. They have a split where the airbag deploys so it doesnt effect the airbag operation. Moulded to fit the contour of the dash and at $63 not a bad price

Whoa! That dash is buggered! Thankfully mines not that bad. I will keep an eye on it and look into a dash mat.

I was thinking of trying to repair the cracks, even if it doesnt look great, so that it doesnt get any worse under the dash mat. Anyone got any ideas on how to best do that without affecting the airbag in a major way?

    Cheers

The same happened to my D3 a couple of years ago.
Had the dash replaced under extended warrantee.
My mechanic reckons it will happen again because "They all do it eventually."
    Bit disappointing really.
