That looks like its where the airbag bursts out from.How old is the D3???

I dont have any answers for you Dan, but if you look at the pic, it looks like there may be some kind of join that its cracking along. There seems to be a kind of ridge/groove at each end of the crack.
Not knowing what its made of, I'm not even sure what you could put on it to stop it going further. But if its plastic, you should be able to get it plastic welded, and of course you should be able to use something like Armorall to help soften/preserve.
Talking with Chris (rangieman) yesterday, he was saying he tried Dubbin leather treatment on some of his older plastics which seems to work really well. Could be another avenure for looking after plastics etc, inside and out.

Thanks guys. Yeah its the weak part that breaks if the airbag deploys.

I thought about plastic welding but it ruins the finish. Plus theres the risk of the airbag not deploying properly...

Buy a dash mat and cover it up!

That will also stop any more cracks from forming.

Mine has cracked in the same spot, bought a dash mat about 6 months ago to cover it. Mine is a 08 model.

I didn't want to disturb the airbag so can't see it now plus keeps it out of the sun now as well

I bought a dash pad for mine when it started to crack, the only thing is I would not buy the brown one that goes with the light interior again. It reflects on to the inside of the screen which is a pain because it makes the screen look dirty.

I will be buying one for the D4 soon and it will be black even though it also has the light interior, actually I will be getting two so I can turf the brown one.

You guys got any pics or links of yours? I wouldnt have thpught they would cover the crack as it affects airbag deployment?

Ill be getting a black one. Not keen on spending heaps (there's other mods i want to buy!), but also dont want to buy crap.
