Shiny LR bullbar...where's the front recovery point?

So being a novice and itching to get out and see what my 2013 D4 can do, I dragged my brother along in case I got stuck. 1st pain was on deflating my brand new $80 ARB deflator fell apart in my hands...not happy!
So we head out, delay to pick up a hand held CB so brother can natter away at me then by the time we get to the dirt it's threatening rain, of course!
The rain held off but it's Bundy so plenty of mud, not ideal as still have the crap HTs on the Disco. So big bro leads the way and by 3rd bog he is up to his axles and stuck, time for me to get new clean snatch strap dirty!
I go looking for front recovery point (remember seeing shackle dangling from a D4 on a GOE training day but where is it?
Manual out and supposed 4 quick release lugs on a plastic cover will expose it, but I have the shiny landrover bullbar. There is a piece of plastic with 4 screws, maybe it's hiding in there? Didn't find out, opted for 20 point turn and pulled him out from the rear.

****** so can someone enlighten me where this recovery point is when the bullbar is fitted?

I'm guessing under the plastic cover?
Not too happy about this plastic being the only thing covering the bottom of the radiator though!

Looks like I'll need to get the protection plates soon, hoping the ugly duckling bullbar fits with them?

Other wise we had a fun day, this car impressed me even with road tires.

Yep, it's under the plastic cover. My cover liberated itself somewhere in the Simpson desert.

If you are chasing a more robust cover that have access cutouts to the recovery points, you might want a bash plate:

the front revocery point is around the lowest point on the front bumper. I'm at work so a quick google images search finds this - athough all the front is removed for fitment of an ARB bar I've circled the recovery point so it will give you a head up on where to look for it

Just as an aside, I've always thought that you shouldn't snatch in reverse. Something to do with the cut and wear patterns of the gears in the diffs.

It was supposedly a real no no in the old Rangies.

Don't know if its the case with the new Discos, but I'll always prefer to turn around.

The GOE bash plate does not work with the LR bar. We have already tried it so my new bash plate is in the for sale section at the moment

The Front Runner page specifically mentions the plate is not compatible with D4 from 2013 onwards

From a recovery perspective always be prepared. We always remove the front protection plate when airing down or earlier so no need to do anything but hook up a shackle and strap. Second issue is to ensure you are trained in their safe use. At current count there have been 4 or 5 Qld'ers killed over the last seven years resulting from unsafe use of snatch straps as well as others in NT and Tasmania. So please don't become a statistic

Yes that's one reason I would always try and avoid snatching in reverse if I could, if your shackle lets go for some reason and the shackle on the end of the snatch strap comes in through the windscreen right into your face. At least at the rear for me, it is another few feet away, I have a cargo barrier and a spare wheel out the back so more protection.

Cargo barrier failed to stop the shackle on two occasions I am afraid. There is a lot of energy in a snatch recovery and far more than many would expect. Some folk reckon they would be able to catch the shackle which I find rather surprising I must say

There was a pic doing the rounds where a ratchet handle was used to join 2 snatch straps. It made a perfect imprint into the rear door of a Toyota when there was a fail. There was even perfect knurling in the panel from the handle section.
