Power feed to 12 pin plug

    G'day all,

I've a 2009 D4 HSE with tow pack. I need to run a power feed to one of the pins on my 12 pin flat socket for the trailer that only provides 12v when the ignition is on. I could poke around until I find one but I'm looking to find out where others have sourced from. Ideally, it would be near the back of the disco.

    Cheers
    Caine

Why not just use the 12S (white) plug? Source or make an adapter to go to your 12pin plug or splice behind the plug. It has both ignition feed (6) and constant feed (4).

    Thanks Scott.

Yesterday I checked both the flat 12 and the round 12S and both didn't have the ignition v as described, that is, there was no difference in v if the car was off or the reds were on.

Today, after your post, I measured again with the car started. And yes, it gave me my 12+v I need on 12S-6. So thanks.

** I only need a constant 12 to tell the REDARC in the camper to accept charge from the car, not the solar panels...

Hi Scott and if your solar is permanently fixed to your camper, you could save yourself a lot of work and simply leave the Redarc on the solar input and bypass it with the alternator supply going directly to your house battery

This would allow your house batter to be charged from two sources at the same time, making for a faster recharge setup, and no need to run any extra wiring.

    G'day Tim,

I've got the choice of both as the camper has two Andersen inputs, one that goes through the REDARC and one straight to house batteries. The fixed 300watt solar goes through the REDARC, of course. Everything comes wired and all I've had to do is get 12v to the pin. Your dual batt kit is in the car so an Andersen comes off of that.

Only thing left for me to do is to run a feed through the plug to the front of the car for the emergency brake monitor.

    Cheers.

Thanks Andrew. Luckily I don't need any parts as the car, and camper, have it all.....except for a long new wire run....cheers

Hi again "Caine", are you referring to a BREAKAWAY BATTERY MONITOR?
