Thumbs down Unsealed4x4 Issue 21 Rubbish

Has anyone actually had a read of the latest Unsealed 4x4 cover story - Issue 21 - Sahara 200 series vs Discovery 4 vs Y62 Patrol? The objective was to compare 100k touring/towing wagons or at least I think that's what the intention was.
    They compare a modified petrol V8 Patrol ($85+$15k), a DV8 Sahara ($115k) and a TD V6 D4 ($80k)...?. For a start, why not a more powerful (yet still cheaper) SD V6?

So anyway, the testing contained nothing of substance at all, as far as I can tell they drove down a dirt road, through a creek and then for some reason did an articulation travel test. At the end they concluded that Sahara won the day because it had dual sun visors, a refrigerated console and "just did everything better". Seriously??

Yeah I read it. Advertising and sponsorship wins all day everyday.

Really turning off this publication, not because I don't want to hear other views, just because the outcomes are the same no matter what they're testing for.

I think if you drive a disco and any Toyota back to back and choose the Toyota, well, you deserve to drive a Toyota...ha

Correct. I've just had a fellow come in to work 3 times now and demand to know all there is to know about the d4 sdv6... seems as a long time LC owner he is sick of spending thousands to keep his 200 reliable and on the road even. He is probably test driving a local d4 sdv6 as i write this... 😊 we both agreed he should never have sold his factory turbo LC100 Sahara because after that it was all down hill - fast.

Pat used to drive a 130 set up for touring. I test drove it when Gillie from this forum was interested in buying it.

Pat is the epitome of an advertising machine.

I've seen him knock the original Land Rovers all the way to the current. Very little substance really.

I mean, it's not like he's using the cars like Jase and Simon in All 4 Adventure.....you have respect for what it is they put their cars through...

Pat Callian's opinion is based around his pockets. Honestly he and a few other of the so called experts on tv are nothing but walking and talking billboards.
I think the boys from 4wd adventure and low range are probably tbe best of the current tv/dvd series shows....

To his credit, he does advertise REDARC which are Australian designed and built and after fitting the Tow Pro Elite to the D4, can attest to their quality and simplicity of use...

Just looking for the positives before we start stoning Pat for earning a living...

I like watching pat because he goes to great places that your average experienced 4wder can and would go. But he is essentially an advertising machine as somebody said so you have to take that with a huge grain of salt.

My other favourite is All4 Adventure, which is kind of the opposite but fun to watch. The dollars they have put into their gear is insane though. And they break them very regularly.
