If they pop without a remap, why would you want to risk an already aged part?
I also doubt you can get 30% extra from just fuel and timing without extra boost. I admit though I have no experience tuning diesels, just years of remapping turbo petrol engines.

A 30% boost in power sounds great, but having already had the motor replaced, under warranty, because of the over filling of oil by the dealer, I am certainly hesitant to do anything which may cause or contribute to additional problems.

I will run it by the people who suggested the re-map and get their response.

There was also a suggestion on another thread that playing with the ECU leaves a trace that is only detectable by LR's bit of kit.

If true, that certainly wouldn't be a good thing if you have warranty issues.

I know a guy that got his D4 remapped and the guy that did it had never heard of the traceability issue before. So that could either mean it's rubbish or there are a lot of folks out there modifying peoples D4s without actually knowing what goes on in the background.

    I have a 2015 HSE SD3.0 and tow a 2.8T offroad caravan. Sitting on 100km/hr I was using around 17 - 19lt / 100km.
I got a ECU remap from a reputable diesel injection outlet. The end result was 229kw and 636nM.
My fuel consumption dropped to 13 - 15lt /100km. The power increase was very noticeable.
However since having the remap and travelling more than 10000km towing the caravan in temperatures above 40 degrees, The Disco now blows black smoke when accelerating hard and at times has a performance restricted mode message. Upon investigation the performance restricted mode message was due to exhaust over temp - never had it come up when not towing.

They're some unusual performance increase figures you cite - 49 kW is quite high and 36 nm almost negligible, especially for improved towing. More often 'warm' remaps seem to offer 20 to 30 kW and 80 to 100 nM from what I've seen... Equally impressive economy improvement figures. Can't complain about that!

I spose Roothy would sell you an exhaust to keep your EGTs lower...

It's Glen not Roothy who runs Roo Systems.
He's the one who had the D4 in the 'Low Range' series of videos.

I had the Roo systems ECU remap done to my TDV8, with a twin 3 inch exhaust, about two years (40,000km's) ago. Since then have done a lot of towing with a heavy (21 foot Bushtracker offroad van) caravan. The car has performed flawlessly with zero issues. No additional smoke (I had that on an Autologic modified D3 2.7 I owned previoulsy) or error messages.

Just oodles of torque and gee it sounds good

    Would recommend highly.

    cheers
