I wouldn't bother putting anything in before the main fuel filter.
I made this mistake on my 110. Stupidly I fitted a 2 micron filter which quickly blocked. I had one spare and it blocked too. Then I was stuck. It worked to a higher spec of filtration than the motor required.
If you're really keen, consider a cheap in line petrol filter before the oem setup which will trap all the bigger particles, which could be present in fuel from your aux steel tank.
