Cheers Mark, I may well be in touch in a couple of weeks, just want to have a gander at a couple of things.
Andy I've seen the Safari ones, and there ok, seeing the LR unit would make my decision certain one way or the other of course. I just like the swept back look,, I wonder if its a speed thing

It would be interesting to know if the LR raised intake adds much to wind noise.. as the Safari one did make a noticeable difference......

But with all the other stuff on mine, I'm happy to live with it....
    Mark

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

2015 TDV6 D4.... the latest project... Llams, Traxide, Icom 455, Tuffant Kimberleys and Mofos.... so far.
2012 SDV6 SE D4 with some stuff... gone...
    2003 D2a TD5...gone...
    2000 D2 V8...gone...

I watched a flick with a D4 that had the LR snorkel, I think this is the way I'll go. I quite like it.

Are you nearly ready for a run Mark Its only ohhh about 2.5 months away yet

I'm booked in for one of Gordons weekends on learning how to drive this beast,,,, cant wait, so many electrical things to learn.
Can't help much but i just finished Gordons course on Sunday and can't wait to do another. His knowledge of the terrain response and how each individual setting effects gear changes on top of traction control harshness etc and when each should be used is priceless.

There's no way i walked in expecting to use 3 different TR settings all whilst on sand...

    You'll have a ball too.

The ones that they lug around in the Defenders are more flexible in what they can do, but you have to pull over and get out of the vehicle to make your coffee. They're a bugger in the rain.

Some people I know even have a microwave fitted in the back of their Defender. Don't think I'd recommend this in a D4.

    Interesting...

I haven't been so I'm guessing sand mode (duh!), rock crawl and .... normal on hard sand?

    Cheers

You can seal up the LR unit to make it a proper snorkel. Sniegy knows someone who supplies a lot in Melb to do it.

The decider for me - Safari requires the inside panel to be cut... Not for me Accessories I'm not averse to hacking into the vehicle where appropriate, but I'm not keen to do that for a Snorkel when the LR RAI bolts without damage.

No rock crawl Dan, too aggresive. Used Gravel/Grass, Sand and off(where before i thought we would need it therefor i was probably over working the car for no reason.

Can't recommend it highly enough Dan. There's no way i could have learnt so much in such a little time space without Gordons well structured course. By choosing the right settings with correct throttle application you transform the vehicle's capabilities ten fold.

Anyone tried the cane toad or aftermarket D4 snorkels available on ebay?

$800 difference for something that is essentially a piece of plastic seems a stretch. Yes there's obviously potential fitment issues etc but still!

Yep that's an extra one Gordon did mention. Unfortunately we didn't get bogged.

Agree with that. Would be interested to hear from someone who has done this. I quite like the look of the LR RAI too but only if it's sealed...
