    3.0 D4 problems?

Just found this site and it reads just as it's name suggests.

    Landroverhell.com Link below.

Land Rover Discovery Review (Reviews) and Report, Land Rover Discovery Recall

Are these reported problems real or in someones imagination, or just Pommy vehicles?

I'd be interested to hear your feedback.

    Mike

If you look around you will find similar websites for other vehicle manufactures - Jeep , Toyota etc. though I think the 'Oh What a Lemon' site has been taken down but 'Destroy My Jeep' is still alive and well.

At the end of the day I think your own personal experiences and those of people you directly know should carry more weight than anonymous internet complaints.

That site geared to generate fear. Every man and his dog who has an axe to grind will put their worst story there and embellish it. The best way to to counter the fear is with knowledge.

I came across that site in my year long research before I bought my D4, initially it scared the hell out of me but, the more I rationalised things and read of experiences here the more confidence I got in the brand and the product.

As Ferret has said every brand has these sorts of sites running against them. Ultimately, it comes down to how true the stories are, how prevalent the problems are and most importantly how the issues are dealt with by the dealers.

I think the last point is the most important, I find that if you have a good relationship with your dealer, you get looked after. People who treat them like crap are likely to get the same treatment back.
    Cheers,

    Sean

I Love the one about the 3 month old Land Rover Sport ...not sure if he's talking about RRS or new Disco Sport ... not that it matters.

His beef is that he got a sensor failure due to some Blue (whatever that is) additive not being added or topped up. But really he's complaining about the customer service and who has to pay for said additive.

Sounds pretty light on but enough for him to state that he'd never buy another LR product again.

There were people on there whinging about their 20+ year old car leaking water ...... I'm all for having a beef about a real issue but this sort of stuff is just hysterical BS!

Whilst JLR seems to be having a good run with the JD Powers surveys these days, that was another example of hysterics. The data is so easy to bias and they were using satisfaction data from customers that were reporting things that were caused by operator error. They also used data that had a massive replication factor, meaning if there was a production run issue on one item, JD Power would not supply this info as context and would still use the numbers. For instance, a manufacturing fault on the RHS headlight of a Toyota would be recorded as 50,000 failure reports. The numbers alone put people off buying cars but if they knew the context they would be completely un-phased.

Cars fail and serial problems should get exposed and reported but unfiltered or manipulated data makes it difficult for any brand customer to ascertain if there are real areas of concern.

    Cheers.

Used to meet Euro 6 regulations. That's why rear A/C was deleted from the 16MY Discovery 4's the Adblue tank sits where the evaporator/fan was fitted.

I wonder how they are going to overcome the 25degC max storage temp they mention in australia????
Ad blue is available everywhere as most Jap and euro trucks run it.I cant see having it installed to be a big issue.
The blurb also says the vehicle wont start if the warnings are ignored, did he drive it beyond a warning??? They are very expensive systems to fix if run with no ad-blue.Was at the Merc dealer in perth talking to an owner driver who said he hadnt run his truck without ad blue, computer said he did.He was savage, talking over $15000 to repair.

What goes wrong if you run out of adblue? I would have thought it would just generate more harmful emissions until you topped it back up?

    Cheers
