    Thanks Martin

That site says now only available from Land Rover dealers. Land Rover in Port Melbourne only charged $275 for the upgrade...same price as the disc so I guess all good.

    Cheers,

Just note that it is not the nav system itself that is basic. It is capable of all that your are wanting, it is just that LR Australia refuse to pay the licensing fee to access the system here in Australia. The company that provides those services here in Oz is SUNA.

MY 10-11 must be updated by CD and can only be done by the dealer. Later systems can by updated by the user.
    Cheers,

Do you know what year the update was up to? I could never tell from looking at the site as it just had a number not a year.

I see that most of this discussion is for pre-2013 models.

I just purchased a 2013 HSE D4 and I noticed that Land Rover sell the updated maps CD for $200.

I have a couple of questions in case anyone should know :

    (1) Can I use the CD on more than one vehicle? It's too expensive, but I have a couple of mates with 2013 models, so if it's a 'club' purchase it might be worthwhile.

    (2) Is the map quality any better, not just updated, but zoom functions and resolution?

    (3) Is the voice command system updated?

In the meantime, I'll just have to use the phone.

    (2) Is the map quality any better, not just updated, but zoom functions and resolution? See the link below from the web site. No mention of anything other than road updates.

    (3) Is the voice command system updated? .See comment 2

I have had the same model as you since new. Bought in November 2013 and have not updated it. I considered doing so a few months ago but decided against it.

    Reasons are:

    1. Whilst a competent sat nav there are a lot of better one out there.

    2. $200 is way overpriced for what is an already out of date update.

    3. No modern feature set - traffic, red lights, speed zones, school zones etc..

    4. Not as easy to use as other sat navs or phones.

Bottom line is that I decided to buy a Garmin Drive Smart 61 LMT-S. It has wifi updates for operating system and maps and connects to my phone for traffic updates etc. - uses very little data. Lifetime updates included. Much better screen and content. Did I mention lifetime updates for free. This was a top of the line model and whilst costing more than the LR update I end up with an up to date device with live updates etc. Yes, I would prefer the in dash system but to me the Garmin is so much better. I have it sitting attached to the windscreen with its bottom edge sitting on the dash just to the left of the instrument binnacle. To me it is very easy to see and IMO you don't have to look as far to see it compared to the in dash setup. I still have my phone connected to the LR for phone calls etc as I prefer the sound of the phone through the LR system rather than the Garmin speaker. You can connect the Garmin for hands free phone use too and it will call contacts, read out text messages etc.. There can be a minimal amount of reflection on it's screen but I tilt the screen forward slightly and this eliminates 95% of it. I have the same problem with the in dash system at various times so i don't see this as a negative.

Can the Naviplus system mirror your phone?

Do you know how much memory it has?

I suppose with the Naviplus screen you can have the GoPro remote control app and use it to control an externally mounted GoPro.

edit - don't worry, just found this from the same manufacturer, $450 cheaper and it will mirror the phone. I think I'll give them a call tomorrow.
