Congrats on the purchase. It's hard to go to bed at night when you have a new D4 in the garage.
I bought the mud flap knock offs & fitted them. One trip with mud & cow poo on top of the van, rear wheel flares chipping from stones from the front wheels & I took them off. Anyone want them? I now have D1 front flaps on the front & pre TD5 90 flaps on the rear.
Sourced the rears from MR Automotive, part no. BTR 277. Fronts off ebay. Thanks to others on this forum who came up with the ideas.

The knock offs don't work for me. Not sure about genuine ones as I have not used them. If the shape is the same for both then neither will work. Maybe we are not supposed to leave the blacktop?

Babs, before you venture off the blacktop the front of the rear flares at the back doors take a hiding from the small grit thrown up from the front wheels.
Get a clear protective coating over them as very soon they will chip and look daggy.
This is why a good size front mudflap is also recommended, the LR ones do not do the job as I found out.

Are there any mods to the car required to fit the BTR277 (Defender rear) and RTC6820 (D1 front) mud flaps to a D4, or do they fit the existing mounting points?
I've done this and mods are required to the flaps, especially the rear. For the vehicle, I found that extra screws improved the attachment of the flaps. This meant extra holes in the plastic wheel arch.
These flaps are a big improvement over the OEM ones.
There's plenty of details in this thread linked by BMKal earlier:

Thanks Shane, I missed that link.
I considered cutting the back flaps to fit around the exhaust but ended up making a curved 40X3 mm aluminium bracket mounted horizontally to hold the flap away from the exhaust. Figured that it may hang funny if the thicker rim around the edge was cut. Only 1 of the original fixings lined up with the new flap but there is space behind to get your hands in to fasten nuts & bolts. My D4 is 4 months old now so it is a bit easier to drill holes in it.![]()

ARB Summit Bar ordered
And Maxxis 980's almost got fitted, they were too busy and I left. Fitting tomorrow.
Now I just have to read up on these mud flap threads (thanks guys) and work out which way to go ❓
