    Brian,

I know you already have an external aerial but thought I'd mention the GPS receiver I have that works really well.
It is wireless, connects via Bluetooth and sits beside that centre speaker where it seems to get a good signal, although I haven't been to WA.
I have the Hema App on the iPad and iPhone but not sure if this would be any good in your application if the GPS is built in to the device itself.
USB charge cable so would work well with the Kuda mount.

Universal Bluetooth GPS Receiver for Today

They also have higher spec models for light plane pilots.

    Cheers,
    Scott

I'm about to upgrade my Samsung 7" tablet for a 10" version and I was wondering about how yours copes with vibration and corrugations. Also, what part numbers did you or from Kuda for your setup.

Did you wire up the Samsung power cable to a dual battery or just plug in the adaptor to cig socket?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rod.
I have a 12V feed from my low voltage cutout protected dual battery,so it can be left on safely. The TomTom and Blackvue are on the came circuit. The Blackvue has the ciggy plug, the Samsung and Tom Tom have the usb power outlet on the side.
Had no problems with the Samsung, the Hema Pro upgrade was a huge flop.It kept freezing and not showing map details, had to keep uninstalling the app and re-installing it,OK if there was fast 4G available...........
The tablet mount works well, its part of one I had and I bought another smaller ball mount. They weren't Kuda, cant recall the brand name, but if you look up Brakes Direct on EBay they are the aussie agents. There were no vibration issues with the mount, quite happy with it.

Here you go.Arkon is the mount.Mine was a long telescopic glass mount which I didn't like.
I got a smaller swivel base which was glue or screw mount from them and then used the tablet holder off their long telescopic version.
Have a look thru their cattledog, they have lots of stuff.

Do you find the Arkon system OK Andrew? I had used the Arkon system previously to mount my 7" tablet in my old D2 and found there was too much free play in the 2 pronged attachment between the arm and the mount itself. It would wobble incessantly even on a normal rural road (let alone anything rough). I tried all sorts of things to try to jam up the interface to remove the free play. Ended up moving to a RAM mount in the D4 which is solid as a rock.

Chris, the long mount was no good, too much movement.
What I have now is good, you can adjust the loading on the joints.
I almost went RAM as I have their gear on my HDS9 in the boat, thats brilliant.
The Arken stuff is a bit "plasticcy" compared to RAM,much better than a couple of other ebay junk items I have binned.

I run the Hema Explorer app on a Samsung Note 8 on a twin suction cup RAM mount. It traveled from Perth to CY via the OTT and back with flying colours. It also takes an iPad. Well worth the price.

    Hi Andrew.

You say Samsung Note 8. Do you mean TAB S 8" ? Reason I ask is that the Note 7 is in the news for exploding batteries so I wondered whether you meant TAB S. I have a TAB S and am interested in using it as a Satnav too.

    Martin,

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, a bit over 3 years old.

    Samsung GALAXY Note 8.0

Battery life is not great and power consumption is pretty high when the GPS is operating, so I plug it in on a not-so-neat dangling power cable. It hasn't caught fire yet or exploded.
