    parts and mods

    Hi all,
    have a 2012 SD/SE and we have now totaled 80K on the"beast"
(Beauty sits in the left seat sometimes )
Just had the lower control arms replaced as the original were knocking their heads off off road and is certainly an improvement in ride etc
Transmission is being done next week with new steel pan etc
Pads been replaced and original rotors are still good to go Need new sensors though
Parts have all been sourced from after market except control arms which were sourced from a parts dealer in Adelaide who supplied genuine at considerable less than LRA along with new transmission sump etc
He did supply "doctor" transmission fluid additive which he says is best to use
Not too sure about that one
Have purchased my own Gap Tool and have found that to be a godsend with resetting faults
Brake sensors, Cruise control availability (twice)
    Have set vehicle for
Global close on windows (local dealer said that was illegal)
Have set it to operate headlights on when out of park and handbrake released off when handbrake applied,m Canadian reg apparently
Would like it to ideally operate parkers only as do not have DRL's fitted just LED outline lights
Scan tool says that dipping mirror available (activated but no go) ideas?
Also turning lights available (might need to fit lamps) ?
Auto high beam available but does not appear to operate
Have not looked at suspension offsets yet but apparently can be done with this scan tool
Would like to purchase/fit hi line weather shields (the really slim ones) is anyone aware of where they can be purchased at reasonable prices?
Have fitted ARB front bar with ALDI winch, light bar and HID driving lights which all perform far better than what I expected (lights have a minimum 2k range
Overall I can say that I am more than happy with the vehicle LRA just need to get their dealers /service techs up to speed
I currently get 8-9 l/100 K around town and towing the van with a weight of 3100 Kg recently for 15 k returned an average of 15 l/100 K which was more than impressive
made my own rear drawer set with fridge unit and second battery (ARK PAK which has since been returned after 3 failures) will now fit a REDARC battery management system as I have the same equipment fitted to the van and it has performed brilliantly to date
Had a security door custom made to fit on the roof racks as a platform to enable "bits" to be carried on roof and that has been great
Also purchased high lift jack, sand boards, awning, compressor and tyre repair kit all from ALDI and all of them have operated better than expected with no failures (makes one wonder why some of this kit is so expensive when sourced elswhere)
Replaced the tyres with Hankook 19" and they have to date performed as good as anything that I have used with next to nothing road noise and plenty of traction in various conditions with/without the van
will try to post some pics when I can work that bit out

Turning lights are a bit fiddly to fit but doable. Hard parts are getting out the chrome dome that fills the globe hole as it is originally fitted before the lens is sealed in place. There are threads on here somewhere. I tied thin wire to each of the three legs that hold it in place then used a hot knife to cut it in three then remove it through the globe hole. I managed to get hold of a damaged headlight and used the pins from the headlight connector to power a globe holder. CCF edit is straight forward but would like to change the speed that they turn off a bit higher. There is a speed there (35km from memory but changing that does seem to alter anything. Might have another play one day.

eBay is your friend here. I only fitted the drivers window one. They do distort the view along the A pillar which is most noticeable at local round-a-bouts but I've gotten used to it.

Bob, these all require additional hardware to be installed before they will work.
    Cheers,
