D4 fix or replace cubby box lid

I've got two big rips in the lid of the central cubby box. Right under where my leg elbow rests.

The gaffer tape solution is not acceptable any longer.

Do I attempt to get it fixed or replace it?

Re fix. Any recommendations in Melbourne on who can do this well, and what i should pay?

Re replacement. What is the part number for the lid? I can't find it on any of the web sites.

    Thanks for some help.
    Andy

    Hi Andy,

Re replacement part number, depends on the age and colour I think but LR025809 LR044202 LR016757 are all possibilities. Looks like about $280 plus shipping from the UK

BUT you can probably get a repair kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-10-16-La...xXnsmA&vxp=mtr

The usual sources of second hand parts may well be worth contacting too.

I am intrigued though, how are you driving with your leg on the centre cubby? And what part of your leg is the elbow?

Hey come on Dave - cut him some slack. He did post at 11.40 on a Saturday night.

Well spotted at 7am on a Sunday morning though.

Any automative trimmer worth his/her salt should able to recover that in an hour with vinyl or leather to match.

    I just had mine recovered.

First I took it off and fixed the plastic shell where it cracked from my elbows weight, I also added some extra reinforcing to hopefully stop it happening again.

Next I dropped it off at a local motor trimmer, and next day it was ready to pick up. Damage to wallet = $130, looks better than new.

I got a new genuine one from fleabay for $99 USD... plus posting via myUS box. Keep an eye out as they seem to vary in price a lot on there.

    This one is cheap!
