Is there 1 or 2 radar units? If only 1 then it might be feasible to relocate it to behind the grille just above the bumper, or even behind the top of the grille although probably would have to extend the wires.

    Hi Graeme
I've just been reading some old threads on ACC.
My thinking is to relocate above, in behind grill.
LR say it will void warranty.
Also not having any experience with ACC, I'm not sure about aligning and calibration>
On Ford Ranger, ARB move them sideways about 200mm.
The BB has a grill area where it may work.
    Cheers Vin

Is it only the ACC that would be affected? Does the standard CC still work?

With some more consideration, behind the grille is likely to pick-up the verticals on the bull-bar so the radar unit would need to sit on top and near the front of the bumper section, possibly in a plastic box to disguise it.

    Only ACC would be affected.

    Bugger me!
    The ACC is working.
Must be thru the gap between number plate and bar.
    I haven't told ARB yet.
I want to see over weekend when I go for a decent drive.
Obviously if I fit a winch it will be completely blocked.

Personally I'd be VERY nervous about relocating the ACC radar sensor without factory approval.

Warranty is one thing but If you are involved in an accident particularly one where the ACC was operational you may have all sorts of liability issues.

As an electronics engineer I would be worried that even if the system appears to work ok with the sensor relocated there may be cases where the relocation introduces unexpected results.

Oh, I'd also be nervous about it working through the bar as it is

Relying on ACC is no defence for running into someone /something as the driver is still meant to be in control of the vehicle.

    I rarely use CC.
Can't think of the last time.
But then I'm rarely on the roads it's suited to.

    What about others?

    Two ways:
    1. Tick the box on the new vehicle order form and then pay extra money.
    2. It MIGHT be possible to retrofit, but would require buy additional hardware at spare-parts prices, and then having the knowledge to fit that hardware and the knowledge and tools to reconfigure/reprogram the appropriate modules to make it work.
