    New compressor ordered.

So the D3 is going into LR on Friday for its annual 4 wheel alignment.

Will the old Hitachi compressor run on new AMK software? to save taking it to the dealer again i might look as getting the software updated on Friday and then fitting the new compressor next week when it arrives.

    Thanks

So just to answer my own question. Melb LR said that they couldn't update my car to the AMK software whilst I still have the old Hitachi compressor in. And price wise it's just a hours labour @ $185.00 p/h.

Disco Mikey ,vender on the uk disco 3 site is fitting dunlop compressors instead of AMk due to inflated cost , he reports no problems with them , they are really just the old OEM Hitachi with a different name i think . They dont hang down further from the chassis like the amk or require more money for an ecu fix , makes sense to me .

Is it a good deal.... or is it false economy?

Hitachi lasted a year / 25k. Replaced by AMK which has been faultless for 75k.

As for software update - put the $185 towards a GAP IID and then update it yourself for nothing...

That $185 would pay for a VIN licence for a nearby IID Tool and, and still have change!

Its got to be lucky dip, mines got 206,000KM/10 years of use and it turns out (so far) its only a crack between the two pipe outlets that's cause the error. Now fixed for $35

I even believe the previous owner used it as a jacking point as well.

Agree , My opinion is nothing these days is really built to a gold standard , my original Hitachi has lasted for 9 yrs and 164000 ks and still works ok , good enough accreditation for me but each to their own i say !! .
Glad your problem was so easily solved .
