    Question Rear Cam Seal Leaking

    Hi All
New to this so hope I am in the right area. (Purchased a 2nd Hand - Stock 2011 LR4 Disco SDV6).
Just had a Major Service done after 4 months ownership as it seemed the wise thing to do (All filters, fluids and Trannie Service).
It had 135k on the clock and have done about 5k since and have been very happy with everything till !!!!
I reported a small oil leak for investigation at the service and the agent reports it appears to be the "Rear Cam Seal" on the Drive belt for the Fuel Rail pump at the back of the engine.
His honest advice from his own experience and that of two LR dealers he rang was that the Engine had to come out to fix it
$~200 in parts and labour for the Seal but 25 hrs in labour to get the motor out and in (~$3k to $4k)
My question to any experts here is: Has anyone had a similar problem and can it be done without the motor or body coming off ?
Apparently the belt can be changed in situ but not the Cam Seal itself.
I really do not relish having either the Engine out or Body off as either will undoubtedly lead to other problems down the track with something being missed or not put back properly.
    Your Sage advice's appreciated.
(Damn Compressor started playing up last week also looks like a new one is on the books, though I had expected and allowed/budgeted for a new one prior to purchase).
    Thanks in advance.
    Roscoe

After doing a 3.0 HP fuel pump belt change with the body on I doubt that a workshop would do it with the body on if they had ever tried and if they did then the cost is likely to be more than to R&R the body.

The engine is never removed without first removing the body and removing the body is only a couple of hour's work as it's designed to be removed. With the body removed there would be no reason to remove the engine.

Thanks guys, interesting. Not sure how Brookvale would do it for under a grand but I might have to drive it up there and find out ;-)

    Hi Graeme

Been in touch with a (Non Dealer) LR Specialist down here in Vic and he sais has done many before and the Body definitely has to come off (not engine out). Sounds like you picked it.
Not sure how Brookvale LR did it for Lukeis, but seems odd the differing and quite disparate findings :-(
