My question to the LR dealer re paddle shift was "when the vehicle is cruising in 8th/overdrive, when I down shift once with the paddle the auto drops down 2 gears to 6th " . I aked is this normal and the young guy at service didn't know and told me to book the vehicle in, when I only wanted a simple answer to the question. So frustrating at the time.

From what I've worked out over the last two weeks is, it drops by two years at a time until it starts to match revs/gearing to suit.
This may not be right, but that's what I've seen so far. I would think this would be situation normal.

Wait until you use it off-road,BRILLIANT!!!!! Both hands on the wheel and changing gears, until the steering wheel is upside down and you go arse about!!!!
Sand mode keeps it at 2000 to 2500 RPM,alot of this isn't needed, the paddles work well in this instance.

You can take him out of a Defender, but not take the Defender out of him.You no longer need to measure your gear changes in years
