Front LCA rear bush remover tool for loan! Central Coast NSW

Sorry about the highjack,the thread brings back memories!!!!
I remember another helpout that I never saw anything for.
Stinking hot summers day,I was in the shed and could smell stinking hot OAT coolant,had to be a Landy.Walked out and there was a fine upstanding gentleman bussinessman from Albany with a TDV8 with a split top hose.He was filling the radiator up with dirty water,it had split 100km south,somebody gave him a 20lt chemical drum to put what looked like dam water in.
He was quite grumpy and didn't really care about the motor.
Anyhow I released a bottom hose,let the dirty water/oat mix go.Taped up the top hose with silicon tape.I had 15lts of CAT OAT in a drum,used it and gave him what he had left,all fixed.
Asked him to buy me a new 20lt drum of CAT OAT and a new roll of tape and drop it in on the way home.Thanked me,said he would,never did.Saw him at the boatramp in Albany retrieving a monster boat that made the Rangie look tiny.Wandered over and said nice boat,I got a dirty look.I reminded him that I helped him out 18 months earlier in Williams with his radiator,he looked me in the eye and said wasn't me,there are loads of these Range Rovers on the road.I said funny,the same bloke had the same stupid captains hat you are wearing on his dashboard,I walked before I felt like decking him.:mad::mad::mad:
Was the same arrogant ***** I helped out.

Firstly, congratulations Dan for being willing to loan the tool. I have acquired a few tools for various specific jobs that I'd be happy to loan out - I too would expect a bond that covered full replacement cost, and the only benefit I'd like is perhaps to access to the tool bank myself if ever needed., and more importantly the chance to meet other Landy owners. I've got so much from this forum - I feel like more of a taker than a giver - this might be a way I could give a little back. Only problem is location ... Being in the Latrobe Valley there are not that many other members around these parts. I'd encourage the mods revisit the idea of a tool library.

Mines more the equivalent of Ryobi One+, Makita LXT etc..

The frame and 12t ram are the basis and then you buy the mandrels to do the task you wish..

The major benefit can be the 12t ram built in...

So perhaps the cost difference reduces as you add more kits/components to replace more bushes, assuming Laser ones cost closer to the $400 for each bush.

The benefit of the 12t ram is presumably for maintenance tasks other than bushes?

I think the benefit of the 12t ram is it's much easier to use compared to the threaded rod of the laser tools kit. Plus i believe it is compatible with a number of S-P kits.

The laser tools 6355 front bush tool is (at the moment) about $215 delivered on ebay. It comes as a complete kit so you get a threaded bar and nuts again - i dont think you can buy the cups and plates separately.

The rear bush remover tools (5977 or 6193) are $190 each delivered. These use a smaller threaded rod.

Plus the 6180 (mine) for $385 and youre looking at just under $1000 for a tool set for all your suspension bushes.

Hi All,

I'm awaiting the arrival of the laser tool for front lower rear bushes. After I've done mine (a Christmas to New Year job) it will be available for Perth Disco owners under the same conditions as Dan has listed.

I've done a bit of searching (Dan's link not working for me) but I can't find any information on how to do the job. Looking at the car I guessing it's as simple as removing the bolts from the front bush, bottom strut bolt and the rear bush then drop down and use the tool. Can someone confirm or correct me?

Also torque settings when refitting nuts and bolts?

Pretty much as you've said. Bolts are torqued to 275Nm except the bottom strut bolt which is 300Nm.

Thanks guys, I'm about to buy (hope to have by Dec 17) laser tools for front and rear LCA bushes for mine (Front Arms). I live on Gold Coast but travel to Brisbane quite regularly. Once I've done mine, I'm happy to hire out the tools (with a torque wrench if required) and can potentially deliver tools depending on where you are at a time that suits me. I'll be running the above mentioned deposit scenario along with a strict 1 x Carton XXXX Gold policy but I might help with the first side if i've got time.

Keep in mind you'll need to get a Wheel Alignment done pronto afterward (by someone who knows about LR tight tolerance mode) and if you don't get the cams on the nuts close to original settings, in a D4 you might be faced a "suspension fault warning" bump stop ride to the alignment shop.. This little embarrassment is avoidable if you paint the cams first and take your time however.


2 cartons gets my 3/4 inch impact wrench and the right sockets to undo the nuts (you'll need a compressor) --- don't use the wrench to tighten the bolts back up. It'll bugger the bushes WHEN you over tighten. Naturally no responsibility taken if you bugger the nuts, the bushes or yourself with the rattle gun

If you happen to be a big contributor to this forum I'll waive the cartons. Happy to give back in some way to the community of AULRO legends who do what they do for us.

Contrary to the above, I've gone away from doing the bushes myself and wont be getting in a set of laser tools to do the job. Not that I've had any requests but I shouldn't have opened my trap until I actually had the tools, sorry for anyone interested in borrowing them. I ended up borrowing a mates press with the right sized plates and cup to put in the new bushes. Without trying to hijack the thread, I do recommend the Nolathane LCA bushes. namely the 45701 and 45702.

Supposed limited lifetime warranty but the usual blurry lines in the fine print... I'm running 275/65 R18s MT LT on compomotives but do so at 55PSI on the road (their max load rating is at 80psi). While these tyres will never be the worlds greatest barometer of road manners, the new bushes feel incredible and I'm enjoying approaching speed bumps without the mandatory clunk. Naturally the jury is out about the off road articulation despite the engineered voids and how much punishment they take for how long. Got them through Autobarn for $125 for the fronts and $135 for the rears (both front LCA, so 4 bushes for $260), thus saving about $100 off what Supercheap have them for. I certainly wont be lowering the PSI in my tyres or be even considering changing back to hydro bushes - have definitely purchased my last set of them.. Driving feels like I'm playing rugby with 18 yr old ankles again.
