    Removal of pins from connector

    Hi all,

I am looking to remove a couple of pins from one of these connectors.

If anyone has done this before or knows how to, I'd appreciate your advice.

    Thanks.

The yellow section locks the pin retaining tabs so remove that section first. You should then be able to slide a pin down the side of the socket that has crimped the wire, as determined from the rear, to hold a tab away from the socket to allow the socket to be withdrawn.

Edit: Those sockets probably have a barb each side rather than the plastic housing having a tab. The barbs have to be sprung in together which normally requires a special tool. I attempted to remove such sockets from a slightly different housing but bought new housings and sockets, although I am fabricating a loom rather than modifying an existing one.

What do you hope to achieve?

    Thanks Graeme.

I am trying to extend the green and green/white wires to the rear of the car. I have got a couple of male pins in the hope of using them in the corresponding male socket, but they appear to be the incorrect ones (slightly thinner than the exisiting male pins).

I think my only other option is probably to simply cut the wires and then solder.
