    Fittings for Expedition rack

    Hi people.
    With the help of Russ I picked up a D3 Expedition Rack for $250 delivered to my place.
    It needs some TLC,should come up looking like new with a bit of paint.
    It came with no fittings,the lady said she has asked her ex for them but don't hold my breath.
    Its Land Rover part no CAB500020PMA.
    I don't have roof rails,can I use some generic mount kit at all(ie with no rails)?????

    And the bad news. Fitting kit is not available as a spare part..

    However, if you follow this link they have all the dimensions to make your own..

    Ah, nice!

    Love those roof racks. They look great. Should be able to make those plates up easy, only 2.5mm steel. Hopefully he still has them though.

    Anybody know what the mount to rail fitting looks like???? I have some in the shed from the tip recycle shop.
    I have no rails,so I'm wondering if its easier to buy a full rail and make my own mounts up.

    Can anybody confirm if this rail kit will suit.If not or you have a better option please post.

    Andy you could probably make that one work, but you would be the guinea pig.

    The OEM way is to use a short rail and space up the front support, but at worst I would think that you would just need to fiddle with spacers and bolt lengths.

    I'm pretty sure you could use Rhino and perhaps other brand clamp plates and bolts to fit it all up.

    My short rails are OEM but the racks I put on them are rhino and they lock in just fine.

    For what it's worth I found the expedition rack too noisy.. Sorry.

    Was that the one on Gumtree Andrew? Luck bugger! Shouldn't be too hard to fab up some mounts for it.

    Yes,Russrobe alerted me to it,it was in Albany.
    Even better,they were going to Perth yesterday with an empty trailer,so they dropped it off.They may be putting an offer in on my boat too.

    Agree, it will be worth the effort Andy, they look great.

    Plus the only other roof rack i've found on Gumtree in the last 6 months is a Rhino and the guy wants over 3x what you paid...
