    Yep - as Tombie said - a bit of masking tape and black spray paint. I used satin black, though I don't think it really matters what black paint you use, as it appears a gloss finish when looking through the plastic anyway.

    I have a spare new clear bonnet protector still in its box up in the roof of the shed. I bought it in case I didn't like the black finish (or I botched up the job) - but I am happy with both the finish and the look - so now the spare sits there in case I ever break the existing one.

    Thanks BMKal. From experiences, these protectors don't last for ever - so was just hoping there maybe a cheaper after market option for the future.
