    D3 Oil pump

So we replaced the timing belts on our 2007 D3.

Got a call from the spanner twirler yesterday. It appears the supplier he uses has issued a bulletin that ALL 2007/8 oil pumps are suspect. Recommended action is an inspection, and if necessary replacing the pump. He says he is looking for a webbing on the pump housing casting.

Seems this issue hasn't gone away...

Well know issue that seems to have the suspect housing thru to mid 2008. Mine is 01/08 and had the suspect style housing.

If you need to update , tell him to compare the cost thru a Ford dealership , last I checked they were half the cost from a L/R parts seller.

    Cheers Ean

For the relatively small cost (not to mention certainty and peace of mind) then a new replacement would definitely be worth considering.

I paid $139 - LR about $450. The Ford item is made by Ford but is the same as the item made by LR. The ancillary items such as seals are LR but while the pump is cheaper at Ford the other bits are cheaper at LR.

So the D3 went to the spanner twirler yesterday for 'exploratory surgery'.

Just as well, the pump housing was cracked.

Moral of the story? Don't be complacent...
