    Oil filter assistance

I would like to perform an oil and filter change on a recently purchased D3 and I noticed online that there seem to be two filters to change out. Is this correct? I note a standard metal filter underneath the car and a cardboard one in the top central section of the engine. Do I need to change out both? TDV6.

    Many thanks.

As far as I know there is only 1 oil filter on the TDV6 and that is in the housing on the engine , the fuel filter is underneath the car but don't know of an oil filter.

The oil filter in the housing on top has a nipple on the filter and if you lean in and look inside the housing you can see where it fits.

Perhaps there are different filters for the V6 / V8 and the TD? The D3 is a fair upgrade of my D1 and I'm learning on the fly...

Very possible , I have ordered filter kits for my 2.7 TDV6 and there has only ever been 1 oil filter supplied.

The filter is a bugger to get out of the housing , be careful if you try and pry it with a screwdriver as the lip of the housing is very thin. I use a pair of long nose pliers that have a 90 degree bend .

There are several threads on the 2.7 filters as if they are not correctly fitted they will starve the engine of oil.
