Cut a slot in the bar mount.....than you only have to loosen the nut and the antenna mount slides out.
Got me buggered why the mounts are not slotted at manufacture.
Front Bar
Body
I've read though as many posts as my searching will find. I have a simple question for you all for mounting UHF anntena's, so would you mount to your front bar (just assume you have one if your actual car dosent) or to the body somewhere (like bonnet brakets etc...) Im favouring the bonnet braket way even thou I have a front bar fitted - my main motivation here is for the hopefully unlikely event if a body lift is required the bar mount will mean cable has to be pulled out so the body mount will be simpler

I would still mount to bonnet.
I find reception is fine and I don't want an aerial flapping around in front of the navigator or myself.
The best location for reception would be the roof. The bonnet seems as good as the bar as far as I have seen.

Ex '77 RRC 2 door. Long gone but not forgotten.
Mines mounted on the passenger side off the bonnet, S/S bracket tidy and out of the line of sight.
I don't have a front bar but I never have been a fan of them on the bar like my D2 & D1 had.
Cheers Ean
Bar by choice. Body if required. I have never been distracted by aerials mounted in my line of sight.
Roof rack. Get an adjustable one so it can be folded down. Being higher its not blocked by the body.

Need a third choice in the poll.
Happy with this little through windscreen unit.
Aware the dB gain not as much as the more common units, however still good for 10-15kM line of sight.

Not the best picture but here's my adjustable gutter mount. Can be folded down when not needed or up to give a clear field of reception above the roof of the vehicle. Gutter mounts are on ebay.
