That is excellent value. I paid ~$640 AUD about 2 years ago.

Marcus, that's around $560 AUD currently and the exchange rate is the best it's been in a while too.
I haven't used a Nanocom but from what I've read the iiD is easier to use, perhaps more intuitive.
In particular, the bluetooth version has a very simple interface in the app on your phone.
From my research it appears that both tools will do everything you'd need and are well supported by their respective suppliers, eg:

Again!! Nanocom vs IID (and others)

    Cheers,

while on the subject of keys, does anyone know of an online supplier who can cut the key to suit? As I live in a remote area a blank key isn't much good to me as there's no one here who can cut it. I can program the key easy enough with my IID tool so that sides taken care of.

Although probably a lot more expensive, could you order the key from the dealers, without them having coded it first?
Either that, or it sounds like you'll have to order one online, and when your next in a town that has a key cutter, get it done there.

If you have a spare, do you know someone nearby a locksmith who can cut the key and post it to them to get it done for you?

Get the code for your key from the dealer... and have a locksmith with the codes to cut and post the key component.
