    Wheel alignment

    I have never done this with any car before but I've noticed my steering wheel is slightly off centre when driving straight.

    Is this something you can fix yourself? I realise is inexpensive and in this case barely noticeable but thought I'd pose the question.

    Hi,
    It is probably 1 tooth out on the spline, but I have no idea on how your steering wheel is removed.

    I had a Dyna that had that issue, but I got a better view of the guages, so I left it.

    I'm fairly sure it's corrected under the car and has nothing to do with removing the steering wheel.. happy to be proven wrong though?!

    Yes what they set during an alignment they should centre the steering wheel. In saying that mine went from perfect to slightly off the last time I had an alignment.

    It's more likely slightly off when driving due to road camber.

    I also think it will be road camber related.
    I have found that increasing the LH front caster by 1/2 degree corrects for this effect but I still notice a slight drift.
    Someone else has had the caster increased by 3/4 degree but I haven't tried that.

    Note that this is not something you do yourself, you request the wheel aligner to do it.

    I'm certain it is more than just road camber, but I will find a flatter road and check on my way to lunch in a moment...

    Yep , assuming the steering is off centre to the right slightly it could be road camber , if off to the left you have an alignment issue , when I worked in a Broome workshop years ago we used to get more than a few tourists wanting a wheel alignment because they noticed their wheel off centre and car pulling left usually starting around karratha , port hedland , I just took their vehicle for a drive and 9 times out of 10 told them to save their money , whether they believed me or not , who knows, but the roads north have a steeper camber to cope with wet season rains , as tombie mentioned find a quiet straight road except I'd straddle the middle of it and see if everything is straight then
