Hi Nelpd96 and any one else interested in such a rattle at front end.
Today thanks to the team at Tickels Discovery Autos I am confident they have solved my long term annoying rattle. New TRW disc pads to replace what appear to be poor design pads without self adjusting tightening capability and rattle gone, beauty. Only two brake specialists, three exhaust specialists and one suspension specialist, one Land Rover exponent and eventually back to Tickels Discovery Autos - job done.
Thank you Ian A

Turns out it was the front prop shaft as rare as that seems to be. I bought the vehicle second hand so can't be 100% sure of how it was used. The guys at Graeme Cooper were great about fitting the car in when they were booked solid and were super professional as always. For those in Sydney I couldn't reccomend them highly enough. If I were to be honest it has probably been on the way out for a while but the brakes and lower control arms were masking it a little in terms on the clunks and bumps they were making SWMBO thinks that it has never driver so well which is a glowing endorsement.
Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paul,
Pleased you had success and sorted your drive shaft issue. Mine turned out to be brake pads. Most unusual but a previous brake installer appears to have installed pads that as they wore they were able to rattle. Initially only on corrugated rough roads but eventually on all roads. Amazingly these pads always provided good braking??? new TRWs from Tickels Discovery Autos here in Perth have corrected the racket. It took many specialists to determine the offending problem detection not easy due to the difficulty to replicate the rattle. Cheers and thanks again. Ian A
