    Rear Lighter Socket

I am trying to remove the rear cigarette lighter socket, so I can place a new one horizontally for the Traxide feed for fridge. I don't need an accessory fed one there anymore, so I plan on putting a light switch in it's place. Should be simple

It's got me stumped how to remove this socket
Does anyone have any info on this? I really need it before I break something.

    Hi Mungus.

Given that there is a slot at the back shown in the photo I would think that you maybe have to rotate the socket to align a tab with that slot. That is if you haven't already tried that.

I left it there,so there is an ignition off feed.
I fitted 2 outlets off the Traxide gear so live all the time.

I tried but with fingers only. I'm going to try with small multi's. Need to close the back up; rains and winds a coming!

I want to fit one on the horizontal spot directly above and it's in the way. That spot doesn't work for me with where the fridge will slide. Might be OK for a switch though!

You know Tombie, I didn't know that! I always left it out as we were at home for the change. Nonetheless, with fridge and rears drawers, I don't think it will stay in the car; however for the sake of keeping original functionality, thankyou, as I will now relocate the outlet (possibly fit a small Anderson socket for the fridge connection to the angled under side. of the trim. Yes it's drilling a new hole but not stopping functionality. This may also be where I put the compressor switch.

Do you mean the spot directly above the existing socket in the pic above or the flat and recess bit behind?
    Cheers, Mungus.

Well what do you know. Thanks Tombie! No longer an option, including the drivers side additional Traxide outlet in the same location.

Still need to get it out to put a switch there.

Inside the socket, are 2 black plastic tabs. These are to be pushed outward from inside the socket.
Then, metal part only of the socket slides forward, out of the plastic ring.
Plastic ring will pop out of the trim.
