Just bought a 2009 D3 petrol with low K's. Not done anything with it yet.
This is my 4th Discovery, in the UK I bought a S1 new in 1993, then a 1 year old TD5 around 2000, used both for towing caravans and horse floats, and some gentle off road work for fun. In Sydney between 2007 and 2010 I owned a TD5, had some fun with the Sydney LROC on trips in the Blue Mountains and to Stockton Beach. I have also owned 2 S111's that were just something to play with on off road trips and RTV trials in the UK.
I did a trip in the Blue Mountains the LR dealer (Sturgess) put on, they were showcasing the abilities of the D3 and RRS, my TD5 went everywhere the D3 did but with a lot more drama. The D3's seemingly no fuss ability to tackle anything impressed me greatly, the price tag put me off in an equal measure though.
Having done a few years in NZ and on FIFO to Perth I'm now settled in Brisbane for a while so bought this one. We had a few days on Fraser Island last year, I'm fancying a trip over there this year in the D3. Before then I'll join a club and get some training I reckon.
Anybody recommend a LR club in or around Brisbane that does training and some easy trips?
