I have good tint so maybe that makes it OK. I just direct the front vents towards the back with as few obstructions as possible and there are no complaints. The D4 air con is so good it cools the entire car OK for me. It will be warmer than the front but there are also middle seat vents and there is enough cooling in my experience. We have even done the 800km trip from Perth to Esperance non stop in summer with 7 adults and everyone was happy.

No child seat anchors though. There are three in the middle row. I have put my 90 year old father in the rear row and my wife who is close to 60 regularly rides there so that the oldies can have an easier to access seat. Never any complaints and all quite comfortable. As long as they can climb in (which is pretty easy with the way the seats fold forward to provide access) put the in laws in the rear and the kids in the middle row with one seat available to fold forward for access to the rear.

I concur there is more than enough space for full size adults in the back row. My bulky arse fits comfortably!!!

Thanks for all the replies, appreciate it.
The one I'm looking at has the black pack, not sure on % but the tint looks reasonably dark.

So if the dealer will play ball on price then I think I'll bite the bullet....and try not to think of how the price will drop later this year when series 5 comes out

Only needed if you are going to have people in the 3rd row as well as the 2nd. I have had access to both and its only needed if you have more than 4 people up or have people in the 3rd row as well as the 2nd. The front air has 2 really good vents to the second row with the 2nd ac adding 4 vents to the roof on the 2nd and 3rd row and the seperate controller.

Not all discos come with 7 seats, there are a few 5 seaters around, strangely when i bought mine there was a 5 seater with the 2nd aircon installed, the dealer couldn't get rid of it. With the 5 seats you also miss out on the 30/40/40 arrangement on the second row, as it becomes a 60/40 split with different head rests

With window tints, the darker version is not necessarily the version that cuts out the maximum amount of actual heat and UV. I picked a tint from the Tint Professor that had maximum heat and UV protections, without looking like a pimp mobile. Also I was advised not to get the tint that has any metal in it as it "may" affect the aerial incorporated inside the rear windows.

    Just info for your interest.

Spoke to the dealer today and mentioned the aircon, he claims that the std AC is a larger unit while the optioned up/HSE version is 2x smaller units.
The guy is a well regarded dealer with LR mechanical background and I'm inclined to believe him.

Anyone heard this before? Not that it changes anything, just an interesting point

The part numbers (from memory) are all the same for the compressor, condenser and front evaporator, with the rear air con units having the extra parts in the rear added on.
