    Winch Install

    I picked up a Ruvna 11XP today
    Planning on installing tomorrow.
I have a new ARB Summit Bull Bar.
    Traxide Dual Battery D4-5U

Question, Do I connect winch to Aux Battery or Crank.
Any other tips or pointers would be most welcome.
    Cheers Vin

Winch always connects to the crank battery not deep cycle due to the draw. On a D4 be sure to connect the winch earths to a body bolt not the battery. Otherwise all normal.

Crank. I left my positive terminal disconnected but ready to go with lead sitting above the earth block, taped up.

    Negative to earth plate.

You can install the isolator switch that came with it and leave it all connected.(I gave up trying to find a place to mount it).

Last choice would be to remove the chrome end piece and coil up the end with rope...

Wouldn't trust it to be sitting there live with none of the above though.

Imagine the damage that could be done if a fault cause it to start winding in... Bye bye bull bar.

You will need to rotate the end housing so the free spool lever is easy access through the hinged grill panel.
Also, seal up the wireless controller box join just as an extra precaution (located in the solenoid box) as they state it is not waterproof.
I have a couple of pics in my gallery showing where I mounted the solenoid.
    Cheers, Mungus.

Connect it to the cranking battery.
It is also a good idea to be able to isolate the winch when not in use.

Winches draw high current loads which cranking batteries can handle and having the engine running means the current is quickly replaced. Deep cycle batteries like slow draws and slow recharges.

You will probably have to rotate the electric motor as well so that the connections are on top of the winch when fitted.
I have only just fitted a DominatorX to my D2 and I had to rotate both the gearbox and the motor so that the connections on the motor and the clutch are accessible when the winch is fitted to the Bullbar.

Doesn't look like I can rotate motor.
Unfortunately they have not put pin locating holes in 4 points of compass, only the one.
So motor will not rotate like others do.
