Really? I thought it was 100km/hr there too?

    QLD road Train speed.jpg

Most of the Road Trains move stock in Nth QLD are spring suspension due to corrugations and dirt.

Its mostly haulers on the tar have air suspension and can do 100kmh.

Most of the stuff we see is limited to 90kmh.

Interesting the air suspension allows for a higher speed - personally I think that should apply to us too right? The D4 has air shocks too afterall, and doesn't seem too complicated to rig air shocks into a trailer!

Not air shocks - air springs.

As Graeme stated it's air springs on a D4 with a shock up the middle of the canister. Patriot Trailers offer air suspension components on their trailers. Don't quote me as I only had a brief discussion with a mate who owns one but I think it's an airbag and multi-shock set up on his.

The Bruder EXP-6 comes with some clever four wheel air suspension. They also like their Landies, there is a token LC in their promo videos just for the uneducated out there

I'm about 13.9 when towing and fully loaded. That's trip computer calculated so might be inaccurate. I try to fill as regularly as possible.

I've just picked up a new KK trailer and it has air springs. Not linked as with the D4, but quickly manually adjusted with the vehicle air compressor. There was an option to have a small compressor mounted inside, but the $ tag was out of wack with the effort to use external one.

Load adjustable ride height and leveling option for set up is a nice feature. Plus reduced overall unsprung weight.

At an indicated 110kmh - about 105 on the Hema GPS - we were using an average of 14.5 litres per 100km, which I think is pretty good considering the 20knot headwinds for most of the trip. With the long range tank that gives us a towing range of about 1200km. So we should be able to do the whole GRR, with a few side tracks, on a single fill from Willare roadhouse.

That fuel use figure is actual measured. The dashboard was showing 13.5.
every odo on every car I;ve ever had reads 6 to 10% fast, only my rodeo ute was exact, so, if your Disco reads 200000 km, actually its done between 180000and 190000, I'm abt to do 10000km towing 1.8 tonne fairly wind friendly van, will be of interest

So if you correct the speedo to read actual does that also correct the ODO reading?
