    Discovery 4 Performance

    Hi,

Thinking about a performance upgrade on my Disco 4 (SDV6). Mainly interested in increasing torque for towing. Has anyone had any experience with Quantum modules or Exceltune in Melbourne?

I wouldn't have thought an upgrade was necessary personally but then we only tow a small van not a house on wheels. The Cook doesn't want anything bigger saying "I'm not taking house work away with me"!!!
Maybe I've got so used to the Puma performance which although good, it's not a patch on the pulling power of a poverty pack D4.

A lot more stress on the gearbox and the diffs if you increase the torque, and such things matter if you tow. Is your box the 8 speed - its evidently more reliable than the 6 speed. I can see the benefit of tuning if its for economy, but if towing, I am concerned about the extra stress through the drive train - those three diffs, the gearbox, the torque converter.

Driven responsibly there should be no more stress than normal on the drivetrain
I drive in manual mode and have found on this trip that the gearbox oil actually runs at a lower temp than if simply put in drive
It is certainly nice to have that bit of extra power when needed overtaking those Japanese vehicles and even better when refuelling and realising that you have in fact used less fuel :-) than them
