Going into battle with AAMI insurance.
Have three cars with them ($2500 per year)
Never claimed before, Excess of $650 So how much are actually going to folk out $400 for an Optikool windscreen?
They will not confirm the brand of windscreen only to say its equivalent and not OE, Jokers
Anyone had a OE screen fitted recently, any idea of cost?
Thanks,
2003 D2a Auto TD5 good Landy gone
2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?
The end result is always that there's no non-OE equivalent to Optikool so they have to go genuine. And I have to say it's worth it

Hi,
I've had 2 x Opticool LR screens replaced over the last few months via O'Briens within one insurance period.
O'Brien's did have their own after market glass in stock but I requested LR Opticool Original. They indicated that they would fit aftermarket unless authorised by the Insurer and that I would have to pay a difference. D4 glass with rain sensor was about $1650.
My insurance company approved LR original.
For me the 1st glass was excess free and the 2nd was with only my excess to pay. No Claim Bonus not affected.
All very dependent on your insurer and the wording in your policy. Lower premiums equals very few options. I've learnt the hard way not to be too stingy with comprehensive insurance premiums.
My Comp. Insurance covers it all in any geographic location in Australia. No argument.

My insurance replaced with a genuine LR screen, was told nearly $1900-00 supplied and fitted by O'Briens in Perth, took a bit of convincing to the insurance ( opticool screen )but the man on the phone said as long as your screen was a LR genuine original windscreen, he can authorize it, don't forget to make sure they replace with new trim clips too, otherwise your pillar covers will fly off down the road. My insurance was QBE,
good luck

I'm with Suncorp (AFAIK they own AAMI) no problem getting OE screen for the P38A once I pointed out that it had heating wires integrated in the glass. No excess, either.
